I tried the 712u at a demo and for me it was a tough club to hit. if you cant hit a 1or 2 iron very well I would stick with a hybrid.

I don't think I could hit a garbage truck at 30 yards with a 2 iron. My 910H 24 was a pig of a stick to figure out, too. But, with the right shaft (ilima 61 A flex)and practice, I was soon hammering it out there over 200yards. It's too far!!! I may need to try the U and see if I can figure it out. It looks like a forged muscle back so it ought to be a good stick to shape shots without overshooting the pins like my hybrid likes to do when I hit it well.

I found them very similar in launch and spin. Main difference I noticed was that the Hd flies a little higher with a little more carry. I ultimately chose the Hd over the 712U

    Jacob,

I tested both on a Trackman earlier today, these were my average numbers.

    712U 2iron Dynamic Gold x100 - Club Speed 106.8, Attack angle -2.1, Height 65.7 ft, Launch angle 9.1, Spin Rate 2632, Smash Factor 1.38, Carry 226.2, Total 253.6, Landing Angle 31.6.

    913 HD 18 w/ Diamana W 102X(11gram weight) - Club Speed 105.4, Attack angle -4.3, Height  89.3ft, Launch angle 10.2, Spin Rate 3291, Smash Factor 1.38, Carry 229.5, Total 247.4, Landing Angle 39.5.

The 712U came off low and hot, which is what I wanted and was trying to create. The purpose of this club, for me, will be to cut through the wind and run for days on links style courses. I was not looking for something to hold the green.

The 913HD feels solid and has a much better trajectory for holding greens. I ended up purchasing both. I will game the 913HD a majority of the time because it is more versatile in my opinion. However the 712U will be in the bag on windy days and on links courses.

Don't be afraid to try the 712U. It is much more forgiving than people give it credit for, but for me it is an alternative option meant to fit a specific need. I'm not sure that I would completely replace a hybrid with this club. Hope this helps.
