While I was at the local shop today having my 714 AP2s fine tuned, I also had my fitter look at my Scotty Newport 2 Notchback.  My putting has been somewhat suspect lately.  No consistency at all and I have a history of good putting.  In checking out the lie and loft he found that the lie was off 4 degrees and the loft was off 5 degrees.  He had me putt with it and the ball was hopping all over the matt off the face.  His comment was no wander you can't putt.  To compensate, I had just moved the ball back in my stance.  Once all the adjustments were made, presto, the ball was moving on line again at the hole.  His closing comment to me was, I bet you lean on your putter when you are standing around on the green.  A lot of golfers do and this will mess with your lie and loft in a hurry.   I never thought about that in the past.  Never too old to learn.  Know there are a lot of birdies out there just waiting.......  : )
