  1. Hello TT! I am a 14 year old golfer who has started taking golf pretty seriously over the summer, getting my handicap down to 8. I have a few titleist wedges in the bag, but I'm looking to save up and buy some Titleist irons as well. I have hit both the AP1 and AP2 out on the range, and I prefer the AP2 to the AP1 because of its looks, feel and ball flight. However, some articles I've read suggest that AP2 is for better players whereas AP1 is for higher handicap players looking for more forgiveness. I was hoping if you guys could tell me the biggest differences between the irons and which one you think would best suit my game! Thanks!

Hey man. It seems that you are a solid player that is even getting better so before you know it you will go from 8 to 5 soon. In my opinion if your ball striking is consistent and you love the way the AP2s feel you should definitely get them. They are incredible irons that range from major champs like Dufner this week to even 10-15 handicappers that are solid ball strikers. As long as you test them with proper shafts and all you should enjoy these great clubs.

I would recommend having your mom and dad take you down to the local pro shop and get fitted.  They can analyze your swing and tell you what set is the best for your swing.

It is better for ball striking to play the less forgiving clubs.  I played X31s and hit them rather well for 25 years (then quit playing golf for about 4) and they were forged blades with broad soles.

I would consider myself a mid handicapper (my score for 18 is around 85 on the average and I have broke 40 for 9 holes twice and my score on exec courses is somewhere around 4-8 strokes over par for 18).

I carry AP1 8-PW.  I CAN hit player irons (such as 755) but lose 1 club.  I struggle with middle irons so I carry a 910H 27* and two SQ (6-30 and 7-34).   My swing speed has slowed considerably (it is about 82 mph for the driver).  The AP1s are workable and I have some tricks that I can do with them (such as hitting a 30 yard bunker blast with the 9 iron).
