What's up Team Titleist,
I have a question concerning the groves on my wedges. I am notorious for tinkering with my clubs and making them truly mine.
I have two (2) SM4 Black Nickel (54.08 & 58/06 bent to 59*) wedges and I am not a huge fan of the finish. It reflects too much glare for my liking and I don't really like the way the face shows wear.
My plan is to either strip or sandblast the coating off leaving a true "raw" surface, which I know will not only reduce the glare but also make for a softer feel.
My question is, will completely removing the coating make the face of the club too soft and dull the groves quicker than normal? I love the raw/ rusted look and also like the added feel and spin that goes along with it, but I don't want to compromise the integrity of the groves.
Any advise or expertise would be appretiated.
