  1. Can somebody tell me what the performance differences are between these two 19* clubs? I would assume the fairway wood would carry/roll a further total than the hybrid. Just curious, as I'm thinking of buying one of the two. I have the 3 wood and the thing is a rocket launcher. What do you guys think?

    Justin,

You will most likely see the extra carry distance and roll from the 910F since it is a longer club and allows you to generate more club head speed.  Many players will determine which one of these to put in their set depending upon how comfortable or consistent they are with one over the other.  You may find that the hybrid will play a little more versatile due to the head design, or you may feel more comfortable and consistent with the gapping that the 910F provides.  Just find the one that fits your game best.

    I have a 910F 19* and I love it to death.   I've always favored a 4,5,or 7 wood vs 1-3 hybrids.  I get the same distance out of a 7 wood vs a 17H.

For me, I find a 17-21 fairway easier to hit vs a hybrid.  With the 9 wood or 11 wood vs the 24 and 27H, I do better with the latter two.

  4. When deciding between the fairway and the hybrid swing speed and trajectory are the two main factors.  The fairway will definitely provide a higher ball flight but that does not always mean further carry.  Generally if you have a high ball flight and fast swing speed you generate a lot of backspin so a fairway could balloon and cause loss of distance.  While the hybrid would provide a lower ball flight and longer carry distance for this case.  However, if you have low ball flight and spin then the fairway would most likely increase carry distance.

A fairway wood will balloon if you have too steep of a backswing or downswing.   You have to have a flatter swing path to hit one properly.

If you look at the specs on a 17-21F and 17-21H, they have the same lie angle but the difference in shafts is 1.5"  For me, the hybrid feels like swinging a flat club.

With a 9 wood or 11 wood vs a 24 and 27H it is opposite.  What vendors did with the fairways was leave the lie angle same as that of a 7 wood but merely shorten the shaft.  The lie angles on hybrids continue to increase and a typical 27H has a lie angle of 59.5-60.5* while the 11 wood remains at 58.5 or so; consequently the wood feels like swinging a flat club.
