I need to add a Hybrid club to my bag....still hit a 4 iron (AP1) very good at around 180 yards. I'm looking at the 910H 19.0 with a stiff shaft. The shaft choices have me a little confused. I'm a 12 HC and have no trouble getting the ball up. Any suggestions?

Replacing a 5W?  Otherwise, a 21 degree might be a better choice if you carry 3/5 woods.

Agree with Don on the 21.

Yes. I am thinking about replacing my 3 and 5 wood with a 19.0 Hybrid and a 4 wood....I seldom hit my 3 wood and my 5 has been my fairway and off the tee wood when needed. I thought this would give me that 200 yd distance that I do not have plus give me a fairway wood as well as another long club off the tee.

A 4 wood (17*) is a good alternative because it is easier to hit off the deck vs a 3 wood.  You can also set it close to 18 if you want a bit of a draw and slightly higher ball flight.

For the hybrid, you use the 19 or 21.  The  19 may give you a bit of a distance gap between it and the 4 iron (you can also choke down on it for the in between distance).  The 21 offers a shorter club length and easier to hit off a tight lie.  Distance delta may be 5 yards.

Here's another option: use a 21 fairway (7 wood).  The shaft length is relatively short for a fairway wood (41.5").  If you do well with your 5 wood, this would work.  A 7 wood is actually a pretty workable wood and quite accurate.   It has that "knock the snot out of it" thing that a long hybrid doesn't have.

Work with a fitter.  The 19 degree F/H differ in length by 1.5 inches.  The 2H may not be as long as the 5W.  Fortunately, with Titleist, after you get the 4W working off the fairway, there will be something you can fit behind it.  The 4W can be 16.25-18.5 degrees with a stock length 42.5 shaft.  The 5W can be 18.25-20.5 degrees with a 42 inch shaft.  The 19H is 40.5 inches.

I'm assuming you want the 4W for more than just off the tee.  Even just off the tee, that would be an improvement over be dead weight in the bag.

That 19* H has the same length and lie angle as my 10 wood.

My 910F 19* passed the Miramar Driving Range Test with flying colors this morning (for those that are unfamiliar with Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, their driving range has such a curvature on some teebox locations that you go from playing a ball above the feet and uphill lie at the left end to a ball below the feel and downhill lie at the right end and generally have to hit off a hardpan lie on the ends of the range; sometimes they put the tees in the middle of a ridge and they all have pretty bad downhil lies - the ideal lies are when they are closest to the ball machine).  It is pretty easy to hit off a tight lie; they vary the distances of the teeboxes by 30 yards in one week).     In short, one hits from some of the worst lies in San Diego County driving ranges.  the other test is the "Sorrento Canyon" test - the teeboxes are flat but the mats are very thin and they have the tightest lies in San Diego County.

A 910H may be a possibility next year.  Probably at least the 24 and most likely the 27.

  8. Good advice from Lou G.

I find hybrids let me bridge distance gaps because I hit them farther than the corresponding iron. I used a 4 hybrid 23 degrees to replace my 3 iron and I can choke down an inch to get my 4 iron distance. The two for one let me put another wedge (Vokey of course) in my bag.

    Good luck to you.

2-3* loft difference between clubs can be sometimes negligible for distance.  One may hit the more lofted club with more authority.

I acquired the 910H 24 and 27* hybrids.   The 910F 19* and these two are -1/2" and the Surefit setting is B3.

I have the 19 set up as a 7 wood.   Don't carry a 3 wood at this time   because I have a 13* driver.  Future thought is maybe to buy a 15* fairway, set shaft length -1/2" and B3 to set up as a 4 wood.
