After some putting lessons and a putter fitting, I was able to determine what putter set-up I need.  Recommended length is 33", so that my eyes are over the ball when I putt.  And a "face-balanced" putter, as my natural stroke is 'straight'.  A toe-weighted putter will just make me pull to the left.

Is it advisable to cut down my SC Studio Style Newport 2? Has anyone ever custom-fitted their 'after market' putter? Any insights... thanks.

    Carlo,

You can cut down your putter, but it will just swing weight out a little lighter.  As far as being faced balanced, that putter won't have an extreme tow hang, but won't be faced balanced.  It sounds like you are on the right track, but if you decide to upgrade to one of the newer putter models, consider the Newport 2.6 or GoLo S that will be closest to face balanced as we will have.
