Hey guys. I'm getting ready to get a new set of clubs. After breaking 2 clubs from another manufacturer, I'm seriously over them. I see everyone raving about the Titleist AP1's, but it seems, they are all around 10 HC. Are the AP1's a good fit for someone who is more of a 15-20 HC? I also wish Titleist made a Hybrid set, changing out the low irons for a couple new 910H's. Is this something that Titleist is thinking about doing, maybe? Or is there a way I can get a set with 3 & 4 like Hybrid, and 5-W AP1's? Thanks for the help guys!

I just bought a set of the AP1 irons,5 thru wedge,I also bought the 910 21 degree hybrid and the 13.5 degree fd,not to mention the 54 and 58 degree sm4 wedges, all the irons were ordered thru titleist and were custom built to my specs,I am a 20 handicap,I have not played a round of golf with them yet, northern Ohio, weather sucks,I did hit my 8 and 9 and all the wedges, simply beautiful, you wont be let down, great set of clubs,do yourself a favor and get custom fit for them,it is worth it,good luck

    I play of 17 and I was fitted for the 712 AP1's.

They are amazingly easy to hit even the 4-iron, but get a proper fitting as I found the feel between the shafts was totally different.

You can order a set of clubs with any makeup you want.

You just have to tell a retailer what you want and they will tell you how much it will be.

I'm a 23 handicap that bought a set of the AP1 712. I aspire to be better, and over the winter, I'm definitely getting 10-15 yards more with my 5I and 6I than I got last fall with a set of G10's that weren't quite the right lie or length. Had I gone with G20s I would have gotten them 1/4 inch longer (or same length as a standard AP1). You buy them by the club when you get fitted, there is no 4-PW or 5-GW deal on a "set". I got 5I-PW with trepidation about the 5I since I never really made good contact on the Ping. Not sorry - it now launches about as high as the 6I. I used to carry a 4H and a 5H, but now only carry the 4H. I ended up with a 21 degree 910F instead of the 910H. More of personal choice, but to your question, I put together a set to match my game. Not just what is on the rack in the store. A new set of irons from the same vendor are the same price anywhere so you might as well get fit. The AP1s are in the ballpark price of the G20s and a lot less than the K15 graphites. Also, Titleist has reached out to the modest golfer with their shaft offerings for slower speeds. That defines a better golfer as someone with reasonably good ball striking, not necessarily just someone that can get more than 250 yards on a driver. Here's to your next 80.

Yes they are!! I am a high handicap. Just received my AP1's with AD 65i Graphite Design Shafts, 4-PW. I could not be happier. Handicap got cut by 2 first time out. I changed from TM Superlaunch. I don't hit hybrids well, so I elected to leave them out, but Titleist hybrids are available up to 27 degrees, so it is not a problem if you wish to swap out the long irons. I went through a full bag fitting process off grass, and I could not be happier! I also put the same shafts in my 56 and 60 wedges. It works for me, but some may advise against that.

Thanks guys for all the info! I've already started my SM4 collection. It's kind of what got me thinking about switching the irons. I'm 6'2'' so I always have my clubs fitted to me. I think I'm going to go with a 5-W iron set, with a 910H. Thanks again for all your help, guys! It really did help out a lot. Cheers!
