  1. I have the original AP2, purchased in early 2009.

How much more forgiving are the new AP2s and are the CBs more or less forgiving? Thanks!

I had the same original AP2's and switched to the 710 CB's. The CB's are less forgiving and give me better feedback on well-struck and poorly hit shots. Both are great clubs but I love the CB's

I switched to the 710CB from Eye2+. When I swing well, the CB's are just as long (for me at any rate) and feel so much better. The CB's don't sting so badly from a less than good shot either. Excellent feedback from the CB's. I'm quite sure I won't be playing a Ping iron again.

  4. Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like my game is good enough to handle them. I will have to check them out at the store and hopefully one with a launch monitor.

I really like the feel on the AP2s I own but they are pretty beat up and am looking to upgrade with all the new technology. Thanks, all!

I also just wanted to comment, I hear and see lot's of replies to this question and people saying they can do everything with the AP2 they could with the CB or MB... I have spoken to many fitters for Titleist and they all say if you're getting better results from the AP2 then you shouldn't be hitting the CB or MB in the first place. Just a side note in case anyone tries to tell you to get the AP2's:}-

I love my CB's and switched from the AP2 last year, I couldn't recommend them more and have noticed being closer to the pin much more then with the AP2's. They are both incredible irons but I have absolutely fallen in love with the CB's, dispersion's are closer, flight is more consistent for me and the feedback is also noticed compared to my old ap2's which I loved as well.

    Good luck!

I play the 710CBs now - and I love them.  I am considering the MBs for my 7-PW but that is mainly due to the amount of wind where I play, they provide a lower ball flight.  The AP2s should give you a lot more forgiveness than the CBs.  I am not an expert - but I hit a lot of balls with all 3 clubs and I actually felt that there was a larger forgiveness gap between the AP2s and CBs than there is between the CBs and MBs.  If you are not a single digit go with the AP2s.  **unless your goal is to become a single digit and you are committed to the amount of practice, coaching and TIME that it will take to get there.

Either way you are going to get a set of irons that is superior to any other manufacturer.

Actually with the right shaft and the right technique it is still pretty easy to keep the ball down with the AP2's. But launch conditions will vary based on the player and preference I have a pretty shallow swing so my ball flight tends to be a nice penetrating draw so I never really have to much problem keeping it down. Just go to a fitter and see your numbers on a launch monitor, I use the 712 AP2's and I love them I can work them any way and if I'm remembering the stats correctly the 712 AP2's are just as forgiving as the original AP1's.
