  1. I have a set of TA3 that I use now and would like to know if going to the AP2 would be a better club to help my game. Would there be any adaptation to them from what I currently use. I was told I needed to be a single handicap to use them. I am looking to get them fitted, I have never had clubs fitted before and was also told that would improve my all around game.

The thing about being a single digit handicap to use any set of irons is that it is the biggest farce. There are 22 handicappers that can hit irons great but have the worst short games on the planet or kill worms with their woods. Being fit does improve your overall game because you'll hit shots straighter, cleaner and farther with a properly fit set of clubs. Even set makeup helps one play better. Not everyone uses driver-3-5 woods, 3H, 4-PW, SW, LW and putter. There are scratch golfers that use clubs with senior flex shafts and carry a 9 wood instead of a 4 iron. There are even some tour LPGA players that use an 11 wood or a 6 iron hybrid.

Yes, there is always adaptation, set up, look at address, ball flight, overall feel... Take your current set and go get fitted, try all the irons you can from all manufacturers including he AP2, CBs and AP1. In my opinion the AP2 irons are more forgiving than a lot of people think. Go with what feels best to you and achieves the performance you are looking for. My current set up is AP2, KBS Tour Stiff Shafts - 1.4 hndcp Have fun.

Hi Tim,  Getting fit is the way to go.   If you can tell us where you are located, we can let you know what fitter in your area was recommended and we are always interested to know what players think of their fits, so let us know how it works out for you.

  5. I am located in the Birmingham, AL area. I have found some places but not sure which would the best to visit.
