Have same question, can't tell the different by just looking the spec and photo beside the color.  hope somebody can kindly answer

Hey I didn't find much the only differences is obviously the color but also the california has more zing of the face while the Newport is more soft that's all I found based upon opinion.

I was just hitting both on Saturday. I don’t know the spec differences but there seemed to be a slightly different toe design. The Newport seemed a bit softer and I liked the black, so went with. Luv it!

I had exactly the same dilemma. Recently traveled to USA from New Zealand.  The staff at GolfMart - San Bruno (Larry) were really helpful & had several different lengths of the California Monterey & SS Newport 2 waiting for me to try when I got there.  Ended up going with the SS Newport 2 (34").  Dropping way more more putts than I ever did before.  Dont know whether its the quality of the club or the novelty of a new toy but at the moment I pretty much expect to drop anything from a couple of metres in and my lag putting has also improved.
