  1. Just got Titleist MB 712.  +1/2 on the shaft and 2 degree upright.  Should the vokey wedges I am about to order also be fit the same way my irons are?  Had a PGA Pro tell me not to do it, but people who I trust are telling me the same specs should be done to my wedges also.  Please help.  Also I was going to go 47, 52, 56 on my wedges.  Is that too much of a gap between 47 and 52?

Wedges should be fit in the same manner other irons are and that has worked fine for me. My 50-08 is 35.5" length and 64.75 lie angle, I have had my SW and LW all set to 65. I'm 6'1" and 35.5" WTF so I hit Yellow Dot or Titleist +1/2 deg. The way I have had all my irons setup is that a 35.75 wedge has a lie angle of 64.5*, a 35.5 = 64.75* and 35.25 and below is 65* I responded to your post in the other thread and I think there was some confusion on some of the responses. Unless you really know what you are doing, leave the lofts alone. The reason I bent my 50-08 to 51 and my 54-11 to 55 is that I have achieved a bit of a comfort zone with a 51-09 and 55-12 wedge and they work in varying situations. The lie angles on your wedges must be in line with the rest of the clubs in your set. Given that a standard Titleist MB 9 iron is 36" with a lie angle of 64* your fit would be 36.5" with a 66* lie angle. Remember also that adding 1/2" to the length of a Vokey wedge increases swingweight by 3 points - that would be D5 for the 48 and D8 for the remainder, unless you use a mid or oversize rubber (which would drop the swingweight 2 points). You wouldn't want to leave the length bone stock on the PW (48) because it would be 3 swingweight points lighter than the rest of the irons and you could probably set it to the same lie angle as the 9 iron. If you left the gap wedge and below at the standard length, they would have to be bent 3* to keep the lie angles consistent with the rest of the irons length/lie angle and Vokeys have cast heads.

  3. Hi Lou,

Thanks for the reply.  That was definitely very informative.  I got a little lost at the end.  So my irons are +1/2" on the shaft and 2* upright.  I am going to put the order in for for the wedges with +1/2" on the shafts and the same 2* upright as with the rest of my irons.  I don't think I will have to add weight or mess with lofts, bending clubs, etc.  Is that right?

I would go with 1/2" longer and 2* upright on the wedges. Swingweights will fall in line with the rest of the iron set.

I know this is a little bit late, but I decided to add a Spin-Milled c-c 58-04 as a low bounce wedge and was rather surprised by its versatility. I now have a full complement of wedges in my bag: Eye 2 PW (48.5), Vokey Spin-Milled cc: 50-08 (bent to 51), 54-11 (bent to 55), 58-04, and 62-07. I have the lie angle on my PW at Blue Dot, the 50 and 54 are 64.5 deg and the 58 and 62 are 65 deg. Also sort of missed having a 58 wedge in my bag (I had a Haig Ultra Dual Wedge between 1972-2007 and used Vokey 258-12 and CG15 DSG between 2007-2010; old school sand wedges were 57 or 58 deg). Got pretty deadly with a 58 at one time. In regards to swingweight with 1/2" longer shaft, it adds 3 points (may or may not be noticeable but heavier is a little better). Decided to leave my long game simple: driver, 7W, 5H.
