I am attempting to determine the differences between a 60 degree TVD modified M grind Wedge Works wedge (14 degrees of bounce /8 degrees of effective bounce, as stated in the Vokey Website) and the SM4 58 degree L Grind with 6 degrees of effective bounce (per the 2011_Fall_SM4 pdf) bent strong to 59-07.
First off, I know that there is one degree of difference between the two effective bounces. To me, the TVD wedge plays with much more bounce than the SM4 (the TVD splashes through the sand while the 59-07 does not). When I view the soles of the clubs, I can see that the TVD is much wider and higher and has more camber than the SM4 59-07.
I have watched Vokey's videos on bounce and effective bounce and I am still having a hard time believing that these two clubs have similar effective bounces and that they supposedly should play the same. For arguments sake, let's say that the two wedges have the same effective bounce (1 degree difference) then why do they play so differently when opened up wide?
What is the bounce of the 60 TVD when square at address? What is the bounce when opened fully?
What is the bounce of the SM4 59-07 when square at address? What is
the bounce when opened fully?
Since there is not a TVD grind for the SM4s at this time, what SM4s grind and bounce option gets me close to that of a Wedge Works 60 TVD?
