  1. well tomorrow is the day that my new ap1's are going to arrive. i am changing from my mp52's with px 6.0 shafts. the shafts are one of the main reasons but also to find some forgiveness in my longer irons. i reall loved my 52's, shot my career low round this past summer with them but at 40 years old, i think the 6.0 shafts combined with the blades are just a bit too much for me. the new ap1's have HL dg s300 shafts. i have had my 52's for a couple of years, and on my home course they are not bad. (its pretty short) there i hit a lot of short irons into greens, but any time i go to a average length course i realy strugle hitting greens, my putting is my strength, so you can imagine how frustrated it is to have few birdy putts. so what do you thing, all you ap1 guys, am i gonna love them or what?

Hi Chris, I am waiting for the new irons to become available to test and will order anew set. I was just wondering what factors were behind your reason to choose the AP1 over the AP2. The MP52's are good players iron and would have thought you would be suited to the AP2. I read on another post on the site from a Titleist staffer that the new AP2 has the same level of forgiveness as the 2008 ap1 which is pretty amazing. Just curious as to how you made the decision. Hope you enjoy them!!!! Good Luck David
  3. hey david, there were a couple of factors. i have gotten to play with a friend who had a set of ap1's, so i got to hit throught the whole bag. i have hit the demo of ap2's and frankly i like the looks a little better, but the looks of the ap1's are not over the top big to me. much like getting used to the big headed drivers years ago, i can get used to the looks as long as i get results. any way, having hit the ap1's i began to research compairing the two, one big factor was the lofts. the ap1's are a bit stronger, which means to me a bit lower flight (i hit the ball really high) and a bit more distance. Honestly i like them both, and decided on the ap1's. i went with the dg s300. my mp52's had px 6.0's, those are feel like telephone poles. between my hight and my age, i just come to believe that those shafts were more than i need. i am only 5'5, and for the first time i had these shafts cut down. my mp52's were standard lenght, but 2* flat. i am trying a different approach to these. looking at them at address, they could still probable be bent flat 1*. so when i got them today, i couldn't stand it, its cold and windy here, and i only had about an hour and a half, but the course is only 3 mins from my house so i had to go hit 'em. grab my cart and flew up the the fourth tee. (no one on the couse today, like i said its cold here) a couple practice swings and i was off. cold and windy, the clubs are great. the relly feel good. some adjustment for the shorter lenth, but over all i think they are gonna be awesome. i hit some really nice shots. i think they are going to play at least 1/2 or full club longer in warm weather. tomorrow i will work at the range for a while and start working to get comfortable. then a full round saturday morning. i'll post my thoughts and impressions over the weekend.

I hit the new AP1 6 iron in the new fitting cart and it is great. I think you will love them.  I am about to order new AP1's myself once i see the rest of the set.  Did you hit the DG XP and the NS Pro 105T before you picked DG HL?  I am wondering why that shaft?  I am coming from a NS Pro 100 and leaning towards NS Pro105T.

  5. the DgHl really felt good to me. i seem to be able to feel the club head more. a real contrast from my px 6.0's. my driver is a 910D3 and the shaft i have is the 'ilima mid-hi kick 61g stiff. its the red shaft. a lot of people i know play the d3 and d2 but i am the only one that plays this shaft. it is a bit softer at the tip which allows me to feel the club head more. i have the black 72g stiff as well but like the 61 better. the point being the more i can feel the club head the better i seem to be able to hit the ball. i'll give these ago for a while. i got to hit them on the course in the cold and wind for about an hour today, and if today was any indication, i'm gonna love these clubs chris
