I don't know how I feel about the belly putters.  IMO I think it's a trend.  Although numerous pros have switched, and it seems to be the latest craze on Tour I don't see it going anywhere long term.

I game a Scotty Cameron Napa, which is a straight heel shafted blade, and I just love the way it rolls.  I've tried the Kombi at GG and I just can't get into the belly thing.  Obviously it works for some guys like Adam Scott and Keegan, but I don't ever see myself making the switch.

Has anyone here made the switch?

I'm not really big on the belly putters, but I'm torn on whether it should be banned or not.  I don't think clubs should be "connected" to the body.  I've heard quite a few arguments about it.

I don't necessarily agree with these putters in terms of the rules and in terms of pure golf, and I can't ever see using one myself, however if someone wants to use it I don't really have a problem with it.  You still have to get the ball in the hole and I don't believe anyone's putting stats have improved because of these long putters, have they?

If someone has some info on the stats I'd be very curious about that.  I think if the long putters offered a huge advantage to certain players than perhaps the USGA and the R & A would have to seriously considered banning them.

If someone can enjoy the game more because of a belly or long putter is that a bad thing? If it was that much of an advantage wouldn't everyone be using them? I have a hard time with the argument to ban them unless someone can show me statistical evidence that it is an advantage. Anyone who says that it takes the skill out of putting hasn't used a belly or long putter long enough to make that statement. I have used a long putter off and on for 10 years and just like with a short putter there are good and bad days. The biggest advantage is I can practice longer without my back hurting. The governing bodies of golf would have a hard time banning them at this point. Not saying it can't happen, but unlikely.

I'm not at all advocating that they be banned.  I have no problem with people using them, and in fact I found it terribly difficult to use.  I don't even know how to hold the thing-  do you go saw, claw, chicken wing, backstroke, who knows?  I just think it's a fad.  People saw other players on tour gaming them and decided if it works for Adam or Keegan it could work for me.  If it's more comfortable and you like it, game away.  It's just not my cup of tea.  I'm mostly curious to see if people will still be gaming these in 2012 and beyond.
