I've played the TP5 and think that it's a good ball, but I found I was able to play other balls better. Last year I started the year off with Srxn XV's, then moved to PV1X, and finally PV1. The PV1 gives me the best all around performance that I need; low spin off the tee with penetrating flight, a soft feel with feedback, and just the right amount of greenside spin that the ball hops once or twice and stops without ripping back. It's the perfect ball for my game and I don't plan on moving to anything else. That said, I have no idea what your game needs. It might be the TP5, or the TP5x, or the ProV1. Grab a sleeve and play with them and see what suits your swing.

For lower traj and less spin you'd want Pro V1 or TP5. The x variants are higher launch and spin.

Did you notice the post on the main screen of the website? The one that says 13 of 14 PGA victories this year are with ProV series balls? Unless a tour player is paid to play a TP5X or others, it's not likely to happen. Titleist balls are by far the most played in all professional and amateur ranks. I guess there will always be some people buying other brands but not me, and not too many people that call themselves true Team Titleist ambassadors.

Can’t say much about your current ball. Since they just released a new version for the first time in 3 years, now might be a good time to try the left dash Pro-V1x or the Pro-v1. I don’t know if they are the best option for you, but until you can find a ball fitting or even schedule a virtual fitting with a Titleist expert (available to schedule under fittings on this site) trying a couple of sleeves each and seeing how each performs from green to tee is a starting point.

Great question but it’s really difficult to answer as, like a lot of things with golf, your personal preferences are different than mine. Doing a ball fitting would help, as would simply taking some golf balls to the course and trying them out. I used to play TP5X but have switched to Pro V1 as it flies lower for me. I have thought about switching to Pro V1x left dash for the firmer feel but again that’s a preference for me. Any ball you choose, as long as it’s a Titleist will be a good choice.

I used to play the tp5x and liked it too but when I first try the new pro v1x , I loved it and made the change . I played much better , it felt softer and has more spin . I would recommend the pro v1x .

Buy a sleeve of each Pro V model and try them. They each fly through different windows and to me sound slightly different. If you try Pro V, x, and left dash, you will know within a short period of time which is right for you.

In full honesty, I think the TP5x is a wonderful ball - but it performs much closer to the ProV1 with lower overall spin than necessarily the ProV1x. I recently did a ball-to-ball comparison between the 2024 TP5x and the 2023 ProV1 (both brand new) and saw very similar performance, albeit the TP5x being a little bit firmer through the bag. I probably had a little more confidence with a few of the shots with the ProV1, but I could easily play the TP5x.

I’ve played the pro v1 for many years now and the pro v1x before that back in the day when it was the lower spinning ball. This year I’ve played the tp5x before today as the low spinning TM. It’s a little cheaper, spins nicely, good flight, etc. however I found it felt like a brick off my Scotty and it was not durable at all. Used my normal pro v1 today and had my best round of the year so far and the ball looks new after the round.

The TM is a good ball, but they still haven’t caught titleist for my game. I’m sure it will work nicely for some people, but it’s only £1 a sleeve cheaper for less durability and rock hard feel.

I have trusted Titleist balls for years, from Tour Balata's, Professional 90's, then on to ProV's. Like everybody here (True TT Ambassadors) we play Titleist. I have a Few dozen ProV1's and a few more ProV1X's and play then according to the conditions. If you want to trust the ball and not the marketing of the others you will be a much happier golfer. Like a buddy of mine told me if it don't start with a T and end with ist you wont play it anyway!

I totally hear you, Mike, and love ProV1s as much as anyone. At the same time, I've happily tried golf balls from other manufacturers and had pretty good success with them - especially TM - across many generations. I'm a Team Titleist member because I feel like I've been able to have great longstanding confidence in Titleist equipment, but I'm happy to consider another manufacturer's equipment or golf balls if it performs better for me. I've played a png putter (three different models) after it kicked out a Scotty almost 15 years ago, because they worked better for me.

I prefer the V1x, I was playing the AVX and the TP5, but I keep coming back to the V1x

I've played both ProV1x and TP5x. Characteristics, for me, were quite similar.The one issue I had with the TP5x was durability. I think the ProV1x held up better, and proved more durable.

I switched to ProV1x left dash due to it’s performance off the driver. However I keep AVX balls in my bag because of the winds that we play through in Southern Idaho. The AVX feels great and stays under the strongest winds. Recently TM sent me a few TP5 and TP5x balls. Honestly I really like how they play and the TP5x plays close to the Left dash but durability seems to be an issue. After a hitting the TP5x with my wedge they cut pretty easily. I love the variety of premium balls that Titleist gives me to choose from.
