  1. I have had two Titleist pro v 1 balls split in the last three weeks. From different purchases, one fairly recently. One ball split 3/4 around on third round of the day. The second ball split completely in two, sending each half in opposite directions from the Tee. These are not old, but purchased within the last year. I am 73 years old, swinging a senior shaft with a Cobra driver head. Is this a common issue nowadays?

The fact that they are not manufactured by taking two halves and putting them together, only the covers, makes this a real mystery. You should contact Customer Support and if you can find the parts, send them to Titleist along with details on where you received them as this sounds like a possible case of counterfeit balls.

WOW. Have been playing Pro1s for many many years and have never had this happen. Agree with customer support needs to be contacted. The mold that they are manufactured in is stamped on the ball and they can check to see if there was a bad run. Where did you purchase the golf balls? I have seen old prov1s at driving ranges and not seen this happen.

I totally agree with Dale. I have never seen A Titleist ProV1 do this,I have been playing them since they came out. Hope this is a very rare experience. Sorry it happened.

Yep... I would 99.9% say these are counterfeit balls.

An alternative form of counterfeit is a refurbished ball. It is not uncommon to use another ball, not even a Titleist and stamp it as a Pro V. Which isn’t the only problem with them.

A type of counterfeit would be a refurbished ball. Some aren’t even Titleist balls but repainted and stamped Pro V. They are lost balls that couldn’t be sold as quality used balls. The dregs of the dregs of used balls. No reason they couldn’t be 2 layer ionamer balls.

As with the earlier post I have been using Pro V1x and have never seen this happen. I hope you get some new Pro V's soon.

8 years with Pro V1's and never had one split in two. And I've had them bounce off of concrete cart paths and some pretty big rocks.
  10. Even outside of Titleist balls, I've never seen ANY ball split in half.

Only Time I ever split a Titleist on the course was when I Mowed some down with the John Deer back in the late 80's...Those balls always broke into pieces from those sharp mower blades...very strange????

I'm with the majority of folks here. I have played ProV1 / ProV1x for YEARS and never had this happen to me.
