I have NS Pro 970 regular flex shafts in my AP1 irons. My 6-iron SS is low 80's and I typically carry the ball between 150-155. I've always hit my irons high and would really like to lower the ball flight. Not necessariy looking to hit it farther, even though that would be nice, but definitely don't want to hit it any shorter. I was thinking something along the lines of the Dynamic Gold SL R300 shaft. It's just a little bit heavier than the 970 and is supposed to have a lower ball flight. Do you think this shaft would lower my ball flight without losing any distance? Comments, suggestions, and thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

    Johnny,

Going to the DGSL R300 will lower your flight because your spin rate will be lower. This will also reduce how far you can carry the the ball at your swing speed.

Before you go through the effort and expense of changing your equipment, try taking a lesson from a PGA club professional. They will most likely be able to tell you whether your swing is producing the high flight or the irons.

    Good luck,

    Kevin

The DSL R300 will lower your ball flight if your launch is too high because the shaft is kicking it up.  A good fitter will be able to help you figure out why your ball is launching high and what the best solution might be.  If you would like the names of fitters in your area, give us a call at  1-888-TITLEIST.
