  1. I got the new custom ordered shaft and excited.

It's Fujikura Rombax 6x07 S flex and 46" in play.

Actually my D3 has a red(7g) weight screw, and wondering what will be the swing weight with this shaft.

I know that 1/2" long shaft will increase the swing weight by 3 points. right ?

    If that's true, 46" shaft(1" + standard) will add 6 points ?

Then my D3 swing weight should be D9..  wow..

    Is that true ?

Then I might want to cut it down to 45"

    Thanks

Swing weight has very little affect, if any, on ball flight. It is more of a feel issue and the player is the only one that can answer that.  As far as cutting down to 45"... the length is largely determined by the players ability to consistently hit the ball on center. So the length of the shaft based on  on-center hits is more important than swing weight.

You are not far off.  The longer length will certainly increase the swingweight.  You can adjust the head weight screw, but most likely it will still be a little heavy.  I have had very few players benefit from a 46" driver.  You will probably produce more consistent shots around 45".

  4. At 46" will the shaft not play a lot softer to flex than a stock 45" which is trimed?Hence longer shaft is harder to control on two fronts : more flex and longer shaft is harder to square the clubface?
