    Hello,

I have a question for someone to help me with, I am very familiar with basic club maintenance etc and try to do my work myself

I have large slender hands and fit between a XL and XXL glove when i choose to wear one. I played standard grips for years with no issues.

Now I gave up golf 8 years and when I returned last year tried midsized grips....

I had the GP MCC +4 midsized and loved em however the weight really threw off the SW on my clubs..... messed up my tempo etc so I went this year to GP Tour Velvet Midsized and was able to stay somewhere near where I wanted to be however to me they feel very soft in the upper hand...... I chose to swing weight my clubs with lead powder and corks and they feel great..... but the GP TV midsize feel too soft.....

I would love to go back to MCC +4 however .600 standard grip size and try build up tape most likely 2 full wraps (in between standard and mid size) would likely be more "firm"

What build up tape have you guys had best success with? I have tried the basic masking tape before and found was hard to apply and wrinkled etc....

I generally buy my supplies from GolfWorks Canada i was looking at there 0.015 paper build up tape as apparently it does not wrinkle

    Thanks in advance

  2. I have built up my grips for years. I like the double sided tape from GolfWorks. However I use three different types of tape for grips. I start with “Blue tape” for the first two layers. This helps from a low weight but also taking the tape off easily later the next time I change grips. The second layers are standard masking tape by 3M and is great for light weight and allowing me to find the correct size. The third type is two sided tape for the last layer. I usually wind up with around 5 layers and it doesn’t mess up swing weights.

    Hope this helps!

I don't do my own regripping , however, the club builder who does my clubs only uses the GolfWorks .015 Buildup tape and the double size grip tape for the last wrap. I did use the MCC Plus4 grips but have since switched to the Lamkin ST+2 Hybrid grip. I don't use a glove and find the Lamkin grip much easier on the hands but provide plenty of grip and should be fine if you wear a glove. It had the reduced taper similar to the MCC+4 but is 9 grams lighter in the midsize. If you prefer more cord the Lamkin Crossline 360 Genesis is a great grip, but, isn't a reduced taper grip.
