I'm not sure if this should be in "club fitting" or "golf clubs", so please feel free to move it if I'm posting in the wrong place!
I recently decided to upgrade irons from my old Cleveland TA6. Unfortunately, I have a limited budget. I previously had luck purchasing pre-swung Titleist clubs (a 910 D2, 910 F and 910 H), so I figured buying quality pre-swung irons would be better "bang for my buck" than cheaper new irons. I went to a "local" (closest being 2 hrs away) golf retail store to hit some balls so I had an idea what I should be looking for. I don't have an official handicap, but I would guess it's around a 12 and I've settled on either AP1s or AP2s.
After reviewing my data from TrackMan, the pro there recommended I look for a regular flex shaft in the 105-115g range, but that the stiffness could/would depend on the weight of the shaft. I'm having trouble finding pre-swung clubs that fit that range. Most of the regular flex shafts I'm seeing are 90-95g and the stiff flex are 120-130g. So my question is, how much is going outside of that going to hurt me? Would I be OK with a lighter stiff shaft (say a TT XP 95 S300) or a heavier stiff shaft (say Project X 6.0)?
I know getting fit for clubs/shafts is 100% the best way to go, but that's just not possible right now. Thank you in advance for your responses!
