  1.  A few months ago I was fitted for AP1's during a Titleist Fitting Day at my club.  Dynamic XP Gold stiff shafts, -2 degree lie, standard loft and +1 inch length.  I'm not very tall (5'10"), but the added inch moved the contact from the toe to the center of the club face.  I was ready to pull the trigger a month or so later, but went to Edwin Watts for a second fitting just to confirm the set up.  The folks at Edwin Watts confirmed everything except the +1 inch in length; they had me at standard and thought it was a bit strange for me to be measured at +1.  Looking at the 6 iron I use now (Mizzuno MX-19) all the wear on the club face is towards the toe so the added inch might make sense.   I feel like I should go with the added inch, but would like to hear thoughts or suggestions anyone might have before I purchase.  Thanks.

    Mike,

The added inch is a lot for someone who is 5'10", considering we have Tour Professionals who are closer to 6'2"-6'5" that aren't more then 1/2" over standard.  I would say those impact marks could be coming from you possibly coming out of your swing.  This is common for players who don't hold their spine angle through impact.  Those players will see added length needed when being fit.  I am 5'10" as well and play standard length.  I would consult another club fitter and have him take a look at your swing as well how you come through the impact area.

I'm 6'1" with a wrist to floor height of 35.5" and use standard lie and -1/4" up to the 9 iron on the AP1s, standard length and lie on the PW, +1/2* and 35.25" on the 50-08 and 54-14, and standard length and +1* on the 60-10.   I hit the ball dead straight and clean and the scuff marks are dead center on lie angle tape.  I use a 44.5" driver, 42" 5W, 40" 4H and 39" 6H (the long clubs are TM).

If someone is an inch long and 2* flat, sounds like a very horizontal swing with a lot of knee flex.  I saw a post of an individual who is 5'7" using 1" long and 2* upright and it turns out this individual stood almost totally vertical with just about zero knee flex.

Mike, I'm 5 8 with longer arms i got my new ap2's 1/2 inch shorter, if i was you i would go to another titleist fitter and see if thats the right length, i might be your arms may be just a little shorter, how you bend over the setup, your swing alot of variables but getting a second opinion doesnt hurt and i just might save you alot of greef. billy
