  1. Cathy:

I recenlty ordered a set of irons from Titleist after being fit at one of your local events. A big change for me was the length of the club where it was determined by the fitter that I might do better with +1/2" over standard vs. the +1" over standard I have been playing for years (6'-5" tall). After some practice and a few rounds the scoring irons (7-PW) feel awfully short still and feel a bit too bent over. I would not feel right putting "plugs" into brand new clubs to lengthen them. Is there anything Titleist would do if I was to send them back to be reshafted? Credit for the original shafts? etc. Thanks, SF

Can you tell us where you were fit and where you ordered these?  Are these the set you said had parallel tipped shafts on them?

  3. Clubs were ordered through Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach, CA at the latest fitting day Saturday, May 5th. The comment regarding parallel tip shafts was made in reference to another single iron from another manufacturer that I had with me using S300 shafts. I know that Titleist uses only taper tip in their irons but did not know they steps were different between the two.

    Cathi:
Can I get a response on this? My previous entry seemed to be hijacked a bit by another post :)

  5. Cathi, I was fit for Titleist AP1 Irons 5-GW at St. James Founders Club and overall pleased with the results. I had different irons before and R300 shafts. These AP1's are 2 degrees up and + half inch long and fit fine. I am writing because i think the shafts produce a very high launch and asking your take on this. We fitted the clubs with your Titleist Tour AD 65i.

The 5 - 6 -7 irons seem fine and easy to hit and are longer than my previous set of irons. The 8-GW seem high and are also full club longer.

If we determine that the shafts are producing too high of a launch at our next session (some balls land in their pitch mark on the green and fairway) can you offer some suggestions i.e. Titleist VS Proto - 75 or 85? that might be an alternative to switch out the shafts (at my expense of course).

my 7 iron swing speed was approximately 78-80

    Thanks

    Ron

You say that it goes one club longer and stops in it's pitch mark when it hits the green.  That sounds like a good thing.  Our goal for irons is to get them to go consistent distances and stop on the green.  If you want to lower your ball flight for more control, we would recommend bending the loft a degree stronger before you think about switching shafts.

Hi Steve,  I did speak to your fitter and he has invited you to come down so that the two of you can take a look at what's happening and make sure that you get the proper length for you and your posture.  He will be out of town starting tomorrow and will be returning next Tuesday.  Jim's email is: friendlyfitter@earthlink.net.
