I decided to get rid of my old trusty irons which are a set of old form forged Clevelands with Precision Rifle 6.0's. I really like the ball flight as I have a medium height trajectory with a slight draw. I tried some AP2's last year with Project X 5.5's and didn't like the shaft at all.
Well I decided to give the AP2's another try to gain some forgiveness. I am trying to find the right shaft though. I have a 6 iron speed of 91 and a smooth tempo. The shaft optimizer software said a soft stepped KBS Tour X or softstepped DG X100. I have always played stiff flex irons and I'm afraid of going to a stiffer shaft will rob distance. Someone told me that the stiffer shaft may actually increase distance by reducing shaft lag at impact and I thought that was against everything I had learned. Would I be okay with a stiff KBS tour or do I need the stiffer flex?
Thanks in advance.
