Looking at purchasing a 910d2. Anyone have a recommendation for these 2 shafts?

I have the RIP on my D3 and absolutely love it..low ball flight, great control, sleek look, outstanding shaft.

The Diamana I have on my 3W(if you're talking about the black one)..its nice but would much rather have the rip in that as well.

I have the Ahina on my D2 and really like the low ball flight and smooth feel. I tried the ilima while testing a 3w and hybrid, the flight profile was way too high for my liking - I went for the Kai'li shaft, easy to launch with a mid flight. Hope this helps.

    ray,

it's a broken record out here on the club fitting posts: go for a fitting.

the 2 shafts are totally different in performance - the rip is a lower torque, lower flight (higher kick point), lower spin shaft than the ilima.

i actually tried both shafts when i got fit for my d3 and in the words of my fitter, the ilima stalled.  the ball would just drop out of the sky with no roll.  even though both shafts flew about the same distance, i easily got 10-20 yards of roll with the rip.

of course, this could all be different for you since you're looking at the d2, which is a higher launch, higher spin head vs. the d3.

i personally love the rip, but don't know how it performs in a d2.  try both shafts and see how your ball flight reacts.  good luck!

The Ilima will kick the ball up in the air and produce more spin.  The RIP will keep the ball down and feel more tip stiff.  Kai'li is in the middle so we would recommend trying all three to see what produces your optimal launch and spin.  If you need the name of a fitter in your area, give us a call and we would be happy to help  - 1-888-TITLEIST

I did a Titleist fitting day recently and compared the llima vs the Kal'li and my results were better with the llima. However I did not try the RIP. My typical swing speed is 95-100, will the RIP be to stiff?

Definately looking for the right combo to reduce spin off the tee.

Cathi, I have a 9.5 degree 910 D3 with an RIPa60 stiff and set at 8.75 neutral. My recent ball fitting said I needed to lower my launch by 2 to 3 degrees and reduce my spin rate by about 400 rpms. 102 mph with 15 degree launch and 2825 rpm. Would changing to the 7.5 degree head do both or would a change in shafts to maybe the Motore and using my same head do the job. Please help. Thanks

Hi Gary,  The number one factor in launch angle would be the loft.  I would go to a fitter and try the 7.5 head with your shaft first, and then try a couple others - the Motore F3 60 might be worth trying because even though the Motore shows high launch, we have seen it lower launch and spin.  All the Advanced Fittingworks fitters have the 7.5 head.  If your fitter is not an Advanced Fitter, have him/her call us at Team Titleist and we can help.  1-888-TITLEIST
