Ap2 712 Fitting

    Got fitted today into AP2 712 with s400 shafts ...

    Fitter said it would be best if we tipped the s400 1/2 inch. Is that possible with a taper tip? Did he mean that hes just going to hard-step them once?

    I've heard multiple people say that it is not recommended to tip trim a .355 taper tip shaft.

    Hi Paul,.

    You are right - we do not tip taper tipped shafts.  I would clarify that with your fitter.

    Thanks Cathi! Is this something that Titleist absolutely will not authorize? Will tipping it 1/2 inch even make that much of a noticeable difference? Thanks!

    Hi Paul,

    We will not authorize tipping an iron shaft.  Perhaps he was talking about hard stepping which we can do as long as we have the shorter shafts for the 9 and PW.  It will change the flex about 1/4-1/3 of a flex depending on the shaft.

    Cathi, Sorry to batter you with questions. I confirmed that the order was placed for s400 shafts tipped 1/2 inch, not hard-step. What will happen once Titleist receives the order? Will they just simply reject it? Thanks!

    They will not tip it so they will ask your golf shop to replace the order with either hard stepping or standard tipping.  What shop ordered it for you?
