I'm getting fitted for new 712's this weekend and am curious about all the shaft options these days. I'll be going to a Titleist Advanced Fitter w/ Launch Monitor so I should be in good hands. But as an 8 handicap with only average ball striking will I really notice that much difference between all of the shaft brands out there, stepless, etc? I understand flex is important, but there seems to be dozens of iron shaft options out there. Thoughts?

Hi Josh -  Yes, you will notice a difference in the way the iron shafts feel, both in swingweight and through impact.

Let us know how the fitting goes for you.

Josh, I also went to an Advanced fitter and was shocked with the info that i was given. Not only does the shaft effect trajectory, but also greatly effects the spin on the ball. I was almost off the chart for spin rate and by changing shafts and heads we eventually got my spin down to an acceptable rate. When there is too much spin on the ball the wind will effect it greater, casuing loss of distance as well as loing the ability to shape shots. Going to the advanced fitting was the best thing i have done! Good Luck
