I recently purchased a set of the AP2s with the following specs: Dynamic Gold X100, Standard Length, +2 Lie.

What type of shaft should I get for wedges; the standard DG S200 or the same as what I have for my irons (X100)?  I am planning on getting a 54 and 58 degree.

I personally like to stay consistent throughout the set and have X100s in everything. I like to keep the feel consistent, but many like a softer feel. Get an old stock shaft wedge on eBay and try it with the s200 , always easier to find than a wedge w/ an x100.
  3. Personally,  I suggest getting the same shaft for your wedges that you have for your irons the Dynamic Gold X100. You want to have the same consistency throughout your bag so your swing stays fluent throughout all your clubs. I suggest changing as little as possible so you don't create any more deviations from your game than there already are (at least for me).

    Patrick,

I have the same specs and use DG S400 for my wedges. You don't want your wedge shafts to be too stiff and the S200 will feel too light.

    Good luck,

    Kevin

I agree with Kevin. I've got X100 in my irons and I play soft-stepped S400's in my wedges so that I can spin a little more from the 3/4 shots.

I play X100's in my AP2's and changed to Tour Issue X100 wedge shafts and they are sooo much better. No ballooning ball flights better control and the heavier weight I like personally.

    Kevin,

It looks like the weight on the X100 is 130, while the weight on the S400 is 134.  Is there a reason why you went with the heavier shaft vice getting the S300 which is 130?

    Thanks,

    Patrick

S400 would be perfect. Very common set up on tour. X100 in irons ,S400 in wedges. Gives you a softer feel on those 1/2-3/4 shots and doesn't affect distance on full swings

i will have to agree with the above i use tour issued x100 in my irons and s400 in sw and lw u dont need an x shaft in a wedge an s400 with the short length of club will be perfect and agree the s200 nto light my swing speeds r 116 118 with driver and 96 98 with a 7 iron and thats my set up as stated above lil weaker shaft in wedges as there more a touch and feel club ur not usually going super hard at ur wedges but we are all very different and u gotta go what feels best to you

    Hi guys,

A lot of great feedback here already. I just wanted to share a video from the TT vault one of our tour reps providing similar advice. As you can see from his response in the video below, a lot of the players on tour also play a softer flex shaft in their wedges. Typically a softer version of the shaft that they game in their irons.

Also, here are a few links to some videos with "The Voke" and he covers a lot of different topics.
