  1. hi guys

I am looking to upgrade my 910f (current trajectory is a very high draw/hook) - wanting to go 13.5 and probably the MRC ahina 80x shaft. I currently play the 70x in my driver which is great.

Firstly I know that I cannot get this specific at the uk national fitting centres which is why im asking here.

I am a formal national level sprint swimmer and have converted the speed to my golf swing (Driver is 115-118 and 6iron 98).

What I would like to know is how much tipping pros like Mcilroy and Fowler (my swing is similar to Rickies) go on their 3 woods. I noticed Adam Scott goes a 2" inch tip on his having seen him in golfdigest and read this article on Scott Stallings earlier in the year:

This makes me think a 1-2" tip would be there or there abouts - I am looking for a low trajectory.

Can you let me know any other thoughts?

Is the shaft in your driver tipped?  If not, all things being equal, you probably don't need the three wood tipped.  The 13.5 would be a great option for low ball flight in the D-1 of C-1 position too.

  3. Thanks Ryan, my driver is untipped however, when I was fitted for my irons (at Celtic Manor national fitting centre) the fitter asked what I was hitting in my driver and he seemed to think I would benefit from it being tipped an inch. My irons for reference are the KBS C-taper X flex.

Do you think a 1" tip might be about right?

Ah ha!  Trust in your fitter.  I know you love your driver, so don't change it yet.  If you wanted to get a separate tipped driver shaft, then by all means yes.  Then you could test and find out for sure.

For the three wood, it seems likely that an 1" tipping may work.  I know this scenario is hard to fit for.  Sensing you swing pretty fast, the only way to know is to order.
