I had lessons with my instructor yesterday. We concentrated on putting. We worked on gripping down on the putter and having my eyes over the ball during setup. I usually have my eyes below the ball (viewing from top), gripping almost on the butt end and having the toe of the putter pointing up. Of course we also worked on stroke rhythm. So basically, judging from my old setup my putter is long for me (35"). My instructor is suggesting cutting it down to 33" or just gripping way down. Although the new techniques feel good, I ended up making 38 putts today (usually I average 30-32). Now I am having mixed feelings on this new putting style even if it is the proper way...
I would like to get feedback on putter fitting? Has anyone gone through with it? What about cutting the length, will it affect balance and performance, etc??? Thanks for the help.
