Which KBS Tour shaft (7 iron?) for 52 degree Vokey?

  1. For my soon-to-be ordered 52 degree Vokey, I was planning on a KBS Tour Reg shaft (same as my ordered 712 MB's) rather than the KBS Wedge shaft.  Question...since the 52 will mostly be a full-swing wedge for me, is it best to use a cut 7 iron or 8 iron shaft (kind of soft-stepping) instead of the PW length shaft?

    Thanks, Steve

The hosel geometry of dedicated wedge heads is different that the rest of the set. The shaft sits higher up from the ground so in effect the shaft is cut more from the butt end to the desired length. This makes it play softer. The opposite of " tipping" , in effect. Look at your current set PW compared to your Vokey SW with the same wedge shaft inserted. The distance to the first step from the hosel is higher on the SW. Head weights are higher in dedicated wedges so swing weight is higher to another factor that makes club play softer with more spin. For a 52 I would just get the KBS in Reg. It will play softer because of above info. If you want softer, get the KBS Tour Rev in Reg flex Many players prefer a softer shaft in the wedges. So your idea of soft stepping one or two works too. DG S400 is a very popular wedge shaft with pro's when their other irons are X100. Kbs wedge shaft takes this into account so you get what you want whether you understand it or not.
