PGA TOUR | SCHEFFLER WINS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Longtime Titleist golf ball player Scottie Scheffler (Pro V1) was voted PGA TOUR Player of the Year for the 2021-2022 season, becoming the first player in history to win the Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year (2019), PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year (2020), and PGA TOUR Player of the Year awards.

• Scheffler’s historic season was highlighted by four victories over a two-month stretch, culminating with his first major championship at The Masters.
• Scheffler – who currently plays the 2021 Pro V1 model with high play numbers (5-6-7-8) – captured his first PGA TOUR title in February at the WM Phoenix Open, followed by wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.
• In total, Scheffler totaled 11 top-10s, including a solo second at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T2 at the U.S. Open, T3 at the BMW Championship and T2 at the TOUR Championship.
• After winning the Match Play in late March, Scheffler ascended to #1 in the Official World Golf Ranking, where he has remained ever since.
• The 26-year-old Texas alum finished the season second in Scoring Average (68.89) and fifth in Strokes Gained: Total (+1.677).
• His performance from tee to green was world-class all year, ranking first in Greens in Regulation (72%) and fourth in both Strokes Gained: Approach-the-Green (+0.819) and SG: Tee-to-Green (+1.475).
• Perhaps Scheffler’s shot of the season came on Sunday at Augusta National, where he chipped in for birdie on the par-4 third hole. From 29 yards left of the green, Scheffler chipped his Pro V1 into the top of the steep slope. It hopped and skipped a couple times before hitting the brakes and dropping into the hole. 
• “It’s really important to trust your golf ball and know exactly what it’s going to do,” Scheffler said. “Because if I change the shot a little bit, it’s going to skip maybe three times or I’m going to try and hit it to where it skips six or seven times. And so it’s really important for me to have that trust in the Pro V1 to where I know it’s going to do exactly what I want it to do.”
• “I would say what is most pivotal was getting that ball up-and-down,” Scheffler said of the shot. “To have it go in was obviously off the charts, but my main goal was just to get up-and-down, and see it go in was definitely special.”

• “I started playing Titleist when I was pretty young. I feel like it’s always been the best golf ball. And so for me, I remember my first dozen Pro V’s when I was a kid, my coach gave them to me and just one of those deals where it was the best back then and I think it’s still the best now.”
• “I've just seen a lot of consistency (with Pro V1) and that’ll be consistency in all of the different shots that I hit. Especially with irons, I feel like you’re always playing a different type of shot. Very little throughout a round am I just hitting a straight-up stock shot. You’re always trying to do a little something with the golf ball, it’s very rare that I’m just swinging freely, just hitting a totally normal golf shot. And so having that consistency and knowing that golf ball’s going to react the way I need it to react when it comes off the face and when it goes into the green, especially when you get in a U.S Open setup where the greens are crazy firm, the wind is blowing, you’ve got to have total control over where that golf ball is going to go. And I feel like I’ve gotten that consistency with the Titleist ball over the years.”
