Casey Goes Back-to-Back at Valspar, Leads 5-Win Week For Titleist Players

The winning ways continued for players trusting Titleist on the Worldwide Professional Golf Tours this weekend, as five players around the globe entered the Winner's Circle. This week, Paul Casey successfully defended his title at the Valspar Championship, leading a group of four other players who trusted Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x to claim wins on the European, LPGA, Web.com and South African tours.

So far in 2019, players trusting their games to a Titleist golf ball have now collected 35 wins across the worldwide professional tours. That's more than three times the nearest competing brand with just 11 and more than all competing brands combined.

Let’s take a closer look at this past week’s Titleist tour highlights…

Paul Casey | Pro V1 - Valspar Championship

Paul Casey (Pro V1) became the first back-to-back winner of the Valspar Championship on Sunday, posting a one-shot victory over Jason Kokrak (Pro V1) and Louis Oosthuizen (Pro V1x).

Casey shot a final round of even-par 72 on the challenging Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort to finish with an 8-under-par 276 total. The performance marks the third PGA Tour victory for the Englishman to go with his 14 international title and his WGC World Cup victory in 2004 with his partner, Luke Donald.

Bubba Watson (New 2019 Pro V1x Yellow) and Sungjae Im [New 2019 Pro V1x, TS3 (9.5°) driver, TS3 (15°) fairway metal, 718 AP2 (3-9) irons, Vokey Design gap (52.12 F grind), sand (56.08 M grind) and lob (60.06 K grind) wedges, Scotty Cameron 009M putter] tied for 4th, another shot back.

Watson tied for the lowest round of the final day with a 68.

Ten of the 12 players who finished among the Top 10 and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success, including each of the top five (5).

Casey switched back to the Titleist golf ball at the 2017 Sony Open when he was ranked 16th in the OWGR. He will enter next week’s WGC-Match Play at No. 11.

Paul Casey on Why He Plays the Pro V1 Golf Ball:

"The Pro V1 proves itself everywhere and it has to. You can't have a weakness. For me this is my livelihood. This is in a game I love and I don't want any facet of the game to be a weakness. It has to perform all the way through from speed off the driver, control with the irons, spin around the greens, and control and the feel with the putter. I mean it has to do it all. If it doesn't then it's not the perfect golf ball. But in the case of Pro V1, it is."

The Valspar Championship marked the fourth time this season that Titleist achieved the feat of sweeping every major equipment category at a PGA Tour event.

From GOLF BALLS to DRIVERS, FAIRWAY METALS and HYBRIDS to IRONS, WEGDES and PUTTERS, the Titleist brand was the overwhelming field favorite as the Tour starts gearing up for the first major of the year.

Of the 144 players who competed at Innisbrook Resort this week, 74% (106 players) trusted a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success, nearly seven times the nearest competitor with 11% (16 players).

For the 11th event out of the 13 played on the PGA Tour since the calendar turned to 2019 (including each of the last five tournaments), Titleist has been the top driver choice of more players than any other, with 40 models in play at Valspar. Of those 40 Titleist drivers, 35 were TS models (TS2 - 10 ; TS3 - 25), more than all combined models of the nearest competitor with 34.

The Titleist TS3 continued to be the most played single driver model on the PGA TOUR with 25 TS3s in play, 7 more than the next closest driver model with 18. Since the start of the year, TS3 has been the most played individual model with 306, nearly 100 more drivers than the next closest competitive model (209).

Titleist was also the top choice in the fairway metal (48) and hybrid (22) categories. Of the 48 Titleist fairway metals in play, 38 were new TS models (TS2 - 20 ; TS3 - 18).

Titleist led the field in irons with 37 sets in play - 10 more sets than the nearest competitor.

The Titleist 718 MB (14) and the 718 AP2 (11) were the top two most-played iron models at Innisbrook.

Nearly half of all wedges in the Valspar field (182) were of the Vokey Design variety. The nearest competitor had 60 wedges in play.

Scotty Cameron putters were once again the field favorite last week on the PGA Tour with 50 Cameron putters in play, 6 more than the nearest competitor.
