It was a Titleist 1-2-3 finish in the Netherlands, where Titleist golf ball loyalist and home country favorite Joost Luiten (Pro V1) closed with a course-record tying 8-under-par 63 capture the KLM Open.

Luiten, who started the day three shots behind the leader, recorded 10 birdies on the day, including three birdies over his final five holes, en route to a 19-under-par 265 victory total.

“It was one of those days where everything I looked at went in the hole. People talk about the zone, and I think I was in it today. I missed one shot when I went in the water on 13 but besides that I didn’t do much wrong. These are the kind of days that make it all worth getting out of bed for.”

Titleist Brand Ambassador Bernd Weisberger (Pro V1x) finished runner-up at 16-under-par 268 and Titleist Brand Ambassador Ben An (Pro V1x) finished in solo third, another three shots back.

Weisberger and An each fired final round 6-under-par 65’s to race up the leaderboard.

The win makes Luiten the first Dutch player to capture his national Open twice since it joined the European Tour in 1972.

“The first one was special but this one is very special,” said Luiten. “To have the Dutch people behind me all week and to be able to stand here with the trophy in my hands is very special.”

Luiten also won the event in 2013 and this triumph makes him a five-time winner on the European Tour. It also marks Luiten’s fourth top six finish over the past four years at the KLM Open. He tied for sixth in 2011, won in in 2013, tied fifth in 2014 and won again in 2016.

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

Titleist was the top golf ball choice at the KLM Open with 108 players trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, six times the nearest competitor with 18.

The win marks the 20th for Titleist players on the 2016 PGA European Tour, four times the nearest competitor with five.
