Thought I was alone

While visiting the city of Wilmington, NC, and the campus of UNCW, I took the time to play Landfall CC as a guest. It was a cool and breezy Wednesday afternoon, so there were not a lot of golfers on the course. Two other guests, Adam Gee (former UNCW golfer) and Kieran Staunton both of London, England, were also there to play the Nicklaus Course. As I arrived at 1:30 PM, the club pro asked if I wanted to join Adam and Kieran, but they were already warmed up and ready to go. So, I told them to go ahead and start and that I would warm up and then catch up with them after a few holes. As it turned out, I caught them on the Par 3 6th hole of the Ocean Course. Adam and Kieran were just finishing putting when I stepped up to the tee box. They finished and walked towards their cart and I lost sight of them. The hole was playing 200 yards from the white tees, and my 3 hybrid shot was solidly tracking right at the hole. It bounced once and then rolled until it disappeared from my view. I really did not know right away whether or not it went in, but then I got an uneasy feeling that I had just scored an ace without any witnesses at a course where no one knew me. Just an instant later, Adam and Kieran came running back out of the trees with their arms up in the air. They had witnessed the entire shot. It was very satisfying to walk up and pull my ProVx1 No. 1 ball out of the cup and get the heartfelt congratulations from my two new friends. I then played the remainder of the round with Adam and Kieran enjoying it immensely. We ended up eating that evening at the same restaurant where I was able to buy them both a round of drinks. Best money that I ever spent.
