I'm 73 and have played golf since my caddying days long ago, about 63 years. Would I ever get a hole in one before I died has been the burning question. I have watched friends get them and watched, so many times, as my ball would bounce off the pin or settle inches from the cup, but never in. Today that changed.
I felt good today on the course, if being 73 can ever feel good, but I was loose and didn't have to think about my swing. The 4 Iron was crisp and clean, and flew towards the green like it has done many other times, but this time I didn't see it roll over the green nor did I witness it going in the hole as the hole is hidden somewhat by a rise in the fairway leading to the green. When I got to the green, I didn't see my ball, but my partners feigned a look in the cup and signaled that it was NOT in the hole and must have rolled over. I went back to the cart and got my wedge and walked over the green, but didn't see my ball down the slope, and then realized it had probably gone in. When I turned around the three members of the group were pointing into the hole and there rested my Titleist, NXT Tour, #1.
Not quite the biggest golf thrill of my life, as in 1953 I was able to walk 18 holes of golf with Ben Hogan and witness the master at work. We all walked in the fairway, side by side with him.
Thanks for making the wonderful NXT Tour golf balls, they feel good, and they go in the hole like they are supposed to.
