My First Hole in One - July 9, 2012

On July 9th, 2012, I played my first Middle Atlantic Professional Golf Association (MAPGA) tournament at Chantilly National Golf and Country Club. My competitor and I started our 18 hole round on the 10th hole. I managed to par the 10th hole, however, I unfortunately had a double bogey on the 11th hole. Going into the 12th hole, I told myself to get a par. As I teed up my ball, I hoped that I could get it close enough for a birdie. However I never imagined that I would get a hole-in-one! The distance was 100 yards according to the scorecard and so I decided to hit my gap wedge. There was a small pond before the green, and the pin was placed near the center. After I hit my ball I felt as though I had hit a solid shot. The ball landed on the fringe of the green as it bounced toward the hole. As I watched my ball roll on the green, it seemed as though it was slowly tracking toward the hole. Seconds later I saw my ball drop perfectly into the hole! I could not believe it! I had my first hole-in-one at a course that I had never played, and in my first tournament of the summer! I finished the day well and I managed to win my age category! I will always remember my first hole-in-one!
