40 years and a new club fitting
By David W On 19 June 2012
For the past 40 years I have hit a full pitching wedge 140 yards. Technology advances have kept the number constant. I was playing with my good friend Paul at his club on a Saturday afternoon. When I stepped up to the 138 yard 8th hole at Pelham I checked the wind - negligible. I then took two steps back to get closer to my normal full range and teed up a Pro V1. The shot was a crisp high draw, moving ever so slightly with a pro trajectory. It landed 4 feet right of, and about a foot past the hole. The draw spin pulled it back and left downhill and it crept like a caterpillar down and into the hole.
Thank you Jacques Intriere for the club fitting and new set of sticks about a month or so earlier! Hopefully it won't take 40 years for the next one...
