Are these wedges worth the price ??
I think they are but are interested to hear other people's views.

The SM5 has awesome spin ... especially out of the rough. I still have a SM4 56* for the sand ... as soon as the grooves wear out on that I will switch to a SM5.

The dirt, grime, and sand chew up a club face faster than anything else. This will extend he life quite a bit and make the purchase price per use drop dramatically.

Re: Worth it !!

Cam-I would have to say they are worth it. I have played many wedges and I have not found one better. I use my wedges (putter aside) more than any other club in my bag so I have made an investment in my game. The Vokey wedges have great look/feel and performance. Just two weeks ago I wedged in on a par 4 for eagle...thats enough for me to say I have made a good choice with the Vokey wedges.

Best of luck!

Are they worth the price to someone who is serious about their game, plays more 20 rounds a year and practices most every week. Absolutely. No where else can you get as close to full custom than with the Vokey line from your local pro shop. The matrix is huge for choices. If you are going to go buy from a sporting goods store, it won't make much difference - you can pick the wrong wedges for less money that way. I wasn't sure about the value of a wedge fitting - until the Tour Van made a local stop. I did not see which wedges I ended up with after the fitting, and I can really see the value. I was sure my sw would be a 54-10 S grind, ended up with a 56-8 M grind bent to 55. THAT one wedge was worth every penny, including the fitting. I also replaced my PW with a Vokey and got a GW that fits in between. In 2 rounds, I can see the difference. If it comes down to driver or wedges - ...which do you use more per round?

Re: Worth it !!

Just got fitted for them Saturday and they are beautiful! But 56 or over definitely worth moving to the SM5

[/quote]

Tom B is right except for the part about the groves. The new TX3 SM5 grove in lofts 46-54 are narrower and deeper because of the oblique impact at theses lofts tend to compress debris in the groves. 56 and higher lofts are thought to sheer the debris rather then compress into. Long story short; you get less fliers in the lower lofts with the TX3 groves. They are worth it if they give you confidence and you like the way they look at address.

Re: Worth it !!

I think they are worth it, and agree with Chris and find the SM5 to give more spin from around the green in "less than perfect" lies, over even the SM4. I replaced my 58 SM4 with an SM5 for the new grooves and found it to be well worth it for getting more spin when needed especially around the greens from rough. You won't get it all unless you're trying to use the spin, so accelerate and keep those hands moving. I kept the SM4 in 52 since the grooves only went into 56 and above. But 56 or over definitely worth moving to the SM5

Re: Worth it !!

I have tried a lot of different wedges and believe the Vokeys to be the best wedge available on the market. They have a great matrix of different lofts, bounces and grinds available to get the wedges setup any was you like them. I would agree that these wedges are not the most inexpensive on the market, but you certainly get what you pay for with the Vokey wedges. Having these in my bag gives me the confidence to hit many different types of scoring shots and know the club will perform consistently on those shots near the green. These wedges certainly are considered my "scoring clubs."

Re: Worth it !!

I think they are. Here's why.

I played with Clvnd wedges before purchasing the new SM5s. I usually play with the ProV1 golf balls and in my experience with the Clvnd wedges, i never really got the spins on the greens. After replacing all my wedges (52, 56 and 60) with the new Vokey SM5s, i'm seeing a huge difference around the greens with spins therefore giving more confidence when attacking the hole.

I've been extremely happy with my purchase and highly recommend anyone to try these out.

Good luck!
