    Great post, Speedy.

    Maybe I’m too young yet, but if I think I can reach the green, I’m going for it. Sometimes (usually) that’s what makes or breaks the round, but telling stories about birdies and eagles sure beats talking about the good lay up to potentially save par. You can screw a safe shot up just as easy as a hard one, IMO (experience, too).

    Regardless of which way it’s viewed, it’s still course management. I go for distance- I would rather hit the 200 yard shot and sit 10 yards off the green than lay up and still be 100 yards away. I feel the odds are in my favor to get the third shot closer to the pin, when I’m hitting closer to the pin.

    Plus, it’s always nice to have the excuse, “I should’ve laid up on that hole” when you end up with the double. You take that away from yourself when you lay up.
