At age 68, I've been playing regular flex shafts in all my clubs and they work great for me. Last year, I put a set of KBS 90 shafts in my AP2 irons and I love the lighter weight.

I have tried around 20 different shafts in my D2 driver and keep coming back to the Aldila Rogue Black regular flex shaft that really keeps the ball in the fairway for me.

I love being able to switch shafts so easily, and have built most of the shafts I use by adding an adapter.

[/quote] Good points; lots of new technology. As soon as my back is 100% I will get totally refitted, not just for a new hybrid. I used to have better dispersion with stiff shafts as well; lower torque is my guess.Pretty sure I no longer have the swing for them, but ???

Judging by the age group I see represented here. What are the odds we can convince the government that golf should be a medicare covered/reimbursable expense for physical rehabilitation reasons? Pretty sure my Doc would give a prescription.

Carl - guess seniors come in all sizes and shape. Shortly after I started at 59, my first AP1s were 65g A flex graphite. Have since taken up strengthening and stretching and moved to 85 g R flex irons. I have used L flex in drivers past, but in my case, my 913 did better with the S+ R than either M+ A or R. I did pick up a premium shaft R flex that is lower spin but higher launch than the S+. I've added over 10 yards and more consistently as well, at 65. I've moved from 24/27H to a 3H 915/25H 816 and will use 5-PW in the 714 (85 g KK). I've given up on a 3W with a Bassara A flex and now use a 5W with an R shaft, same as driver. All comes down to we geezers benefit from getting fit to our personal situation. You couldn't go anywhere and find my set on the shelf with the possible exception of the 815 with an S+ R shaft.

I'm 68 too Carl. I'm 5'-7" and have a 90-95 swing speed with the driver. I'm playing regular flex on my MB 714 irons. My 915 D2 has the Aldila Rogue stiff but I am having some troubles with the 915 that has everything to do with the 45" shaft length. My 913 has a Aldila Voodoo stiff at 41" and I can swing this club a lot more naturally than the longer shaft 915. So I'm about to swap out the shafts or I'll cut the Rogue down.

I go on TrackMan every spring and fall. Then I have a pro who interprets the TrackMan numbers and my current game stats. Last fall (October) he was happy with my swing, game stats, and TrackMan numbers. Did not play November or December, so far I'm not playing well since coming to Alabama but everyday play should bring the game back.

I'd say your driver gain of up to 25 yards is a heck of an improvement. That was a good change you made.

[/quote] My fitter did help me. See my response to Barry B. I have ordered a new set of irons 6-GW, and a 4H and 5H all in a Senior flex. Can't wait to start using 'em. Good way to start the New Year. New shoulder and new clubs.

May I emphasize that there is a huge difference in getting professionally fitted than going to a big box store and hitting balls on a simulator with a sales clerk who is not a PGA professional. You are paying a small fee to a professional fitter and he is going to generate data on your swing and to find what shaft flex, length, torque, tip flex, weight, lie angle, spin factor, smash factor, etc. and the list just goes on. He will have you use the brand of club you had in mind and if you are open minded even another brand that he thinks will fit your swing even better. Regardless you will be given a data sheet of your specs and you can go anywhere to buy any brand of club you wish. The big box store doesn't care if you get the right club, they just want to make a sell although if you don't have access to get professionally fitted they are better than nothing.

It's all in the swing. I am 66 and am hitting Titleist VS Proto-T 75 Reg flex now. Played Dynamic Gold S300 stiff till 60 yrs. Chuck Z is 69 and still hitting stiff shafts, and I have a friend who is only 58 and plays senior flex. Redundant statement alert: Letting your fitter guide you is the correct answer.

I am 65 and I use regular shaft in irons and driver. I did start to lose distance but I discovered my swing was getting shorter. So I stretch and that make my back swing longer. Now I get my old distances back. Yeah!
