There are times I have had a perfect slice or a perfect hook. There are those days when I hit into the water... perfectly.

To me, the perfect game is played with my regular golf group. It doesn't matter what the score, as it seems like we don't all get together like we did a few years ago. We used to play regularly at least one Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon during the spring/summer/fall. This year, I don't think all 5 of us played together but once. It's always fun to see one of the group have the round of their life, or to help lessen the disappointment when one of us is thinks we are playing less than our ability.

Just keep it fun and every round can be the perfect game.

i don't think any of us are ever happy, when you look back on a round there is always a few shots that you want back. I have had days where i think i have hit the ball pretty solid but the score isn't quite what i want, and the day i shot my first even par round i drove it terrible but got up and down from everywhere and still thought .. that could have been a few better... got to love the game we play.

As an amateur I would say there are perfect days, but they have to be to your expectations and being able to play within yourself. I find that when I play near perfect is when I play within my self and mitigate risk as much as possible. Doesn't make for the fun grip it and rip it round where you hit driver over the trees to a blind fairway and maybe get away with a 300+ yd drive, but there are merits to being able to playing smart and keeping it in the fairway.

There is no such thing as perfect. The adjective I prefer is "GREAT!" So, yes. There are great days. Great rounds. Great times. Golf is measured by score. But a bigger and better measurement is the enjoyment you had. Strive for greatness. You'll never be disappointed. Great times to you, Michael!

Yes, I had an early-season round where I didn't have high expectations, just wanted to get out and enjoy myself. No swing thoughts, just "tempo". Hit every fairway that day. Just played to the safe part of the green and took one extra club, only missed two greens, one long and one short. By the time I added up my score, I had my best round ever, but it wasn't flashy, just fairways and greens. Made a couple of long (lucky) putts, and chipped close to save pars on the 2 missed greens.

I think a 'perfect' round would be a) hitting every fairway, b) hitting every green in regulation, and c) one putting, for a bogey-free 54. Of course, were I to have a round like that, chances are my buddy would eagle a couple of par 5s and STILL beat me, but that's another story....

Gotta agree with Frank P. There is always something that could have been done better or a shot that could have been hit cleaner. That being said, no doubt do players sometimes feel they played a perfect round if they minimize their mistakes and take advantage of the oppurtunities they have.

I shot a lot of low scores and won my share of mini-tour events. I don't recall ever walking off the golf course completely satisfied. The mind is an amazing tool, and ridiculously flawed. I watched FC shoot 63 at Bay Hill and miss a 2' putt, AND 3-putt from 10'.....Even the best have lapses in focus!!!.....

Jordan Spieth and the majority of most lpga tour pro's have near perfect days all the time, but's it the exception to the rule.. most pro's and better players are scarmblers.

From the technical side, I'd say no. Not even a tour pro can say that he or she played 18 holes without making a physical or mental error. That said, we have all had days that we could almost do no wrong, where we "got away with it" a time or two and carded a great round. That feels like "perfection".

I had a round like that one time. We were playing a course in the mountains right next to the Appalachian Trail. The scores weren't the best, but the sunset over the mountains was unreal and the deer running across the fairway was really cool.

I guess it depends on what you consider the perfect game. It sounds like your game is where I was a couple of years ago. Since then I've had two kids so my golf time has decreased. As a result my scores have trended up a bit. But with that being said, I've still had a couple of rounds I would call near perfect. But to me, the enjoyment of the day is more important than my score. Obviously I want to play my best and I want to hit the best shots I possibly can. But if I come away from a round with only a couple of bad shots and a lot of good shots, I don't care what my score is. I played last weekend and close to a perfect day. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, I was playing with two good friends, and with the exception of two holes (and my putting) I played to my ability. Don't lose your belief. Just adjust your expectations. Instead of focusing on your final score, think about the shots you had. Try to remember the good shots. Obviously it sounds like you're in a bit of a slump, but just keeping having fun. It's just a game and we play it to have fun.
