I would suggest the same thing on moving the ball back in your stance....but also you said that you are hitting a 10.5 degree driver. I had the same issue as you (could hit the ball to the moon, and had little to negative roll distance) and I thought going down even a half degree would kill my carry distance...now im hitting an 8.5 D3 standard length with a Diamana D-Series 63X shaft. My carry distance barely suffered since I got used to hitting the ball without worrying about the height (now normal to a bit low due to the shaft stiffness) but my distance has been much better and flight more consistant and accurate. Was at about 275 carry and max of 5 roll, now to about 275-80 carry and 15-20 max roll. Overall the dramatic change for me was good because i am still growing and getting bigger (freshman in college) but maybe dropping a degree or changing the shaft to something a bit heavier and stiffer would benefit you. Thouht i would voice my opinion since i just went through your issue.

You could be hitting too much up on the ball...If that's possible. Try moving the ball back in you stance a little bit and you might just get a lower ball flight with good run out. You will probably lose carry distance but will gain roll. The overall distance will probably not change much unless hitting into a down sloped fairway but will definitely help in windy conditions. Well you said that you ball striking has been good so the loft of the club could be hindering your distance. I have the 910D3 driver and I know when I hit it solid and when I dont. I used to hit the ball high as well but with a new shaft and different driver degree change my drive flattened out and it was awesome. Could also be that your spine angle at impact is tilted back too far.

no on the ballooning! drives and fariway woods are going far an high. i was gettting maybe 10 yrds of roll after landing though which concerned me...i guess i am all good. thanks for replies guys.

I have the exact same problem although it's really not a problem once your understand. Height doesn't mean anything. It's all about trajectory. If you could hit the ball a mile high with good trajectory, it would be a monster drive. If you hit the ball a mile high and it goes straight up in the air, its a problem since it may only land 20 feet in front of you. Are your drives balloning or is it going off at a nice trajectory?

i'd have to say no on the balloon... balloon drives don't go anywhere and my distance is 260ish w/ the driver. i do have to say yes on the very little roll part- 10 yrds or less...the person who played last 2 rds w/ me thought the way i was hitting the drvier that the overall distances should have been in the 300 yrd neighborhood. which was why i asked the question on the site b/c wouldn't everyone want to hit is 300 yrds if possible??

Regarding golf balls, I stopped using the prov's last year...Been using nxt tours now and i have not seen much of a difference if at all w/ the tour balll. Can nxt tour be the reason it is going too highh?

Driver info- 910 d3 driver w/ 10.5 loft, stiff stock shaft set to c4 on the lefty D3 chart. i don't think anyone of the driver specs are too high b/c the 3 and 5 woods are going very high as well and they are old cobra hypersteel stiff shafts w/ no height setting options possible.

Starting with driver, does the ball balloon? Which is the launch angle actually increases as the ball goes further out? Does the ball pretty much land with little roll, like less than 10 yards? If using a ProV1, try a ProV1X or even a Velocity. If a ball change lowers the flight and/or rolls a lot more, then you might be hitting it too high.

Or if you have a golf shop/Dick's etc that has a tracking system, get an idea of your club and ball speed, launch angle, and project carry and distance. ...If you miss the screen and hit the ceiling, then you definitely have too much height.....
