  1. I have owned a Players 14, two 5's, two 4ups, and currently a new 2020 Players 4. I can never seem to get the shoulder straps totally comfortable. I'm always adjusting them. HELP! or...is there a better set of straps I can install? My 20 year old Titleist stand bag has much better straps.

The only thing i had noticed was that on my 4UP bag, the straps seemed not to be padded enough. I added some black sheepskin seatbelt pads that wrap around with velcro. Got them at the auto parts store. Other than that, no real issues for me with the last several Players 4 bags I have used. About to add the Carbon so we will see how those straps perform in the next several months.

I have a Players 4+ that is not even a year old, the strap “self adjust” seems to give a good fit, the straps are always moving it seems to help give you the best fit. A few time during my rounds I will have to tighten the straps as they loosen during play. Your Players 4 has the same strap system. Your issue could be a result of the self adjust piece. Unfortunately, the plastic self adjust piece that keeps the straps together is fraying the straps on my bag because of all of the movement and sliding. I’m afraid that by next season I’m going to have to replace the straps. It doesn’t seem to be a well thought out design. The strap system of the new Carbon bag does not seem to have this piece and might be more durable. It’s also similar to the strap system on my older 14 carry-stand which I never had a problem with.

I guess the “self adjust” you are talking about is the plastic cross clamp designed to keep the dual straps together but with a quick disconnect feature for caddies who want a single strap for looping two bags at a time. I have that system on two previous Players 4 bags and have too seen some slight wear on the straps but never bad enough for the straps to fail. If your are getting frayed, pull away from the cross-clamp and take a butane lighter and get the flame close to the frayed spots. They will melt smooth. Be careful not to over heat as they will melt and burn. Hopefully that works for you.

Dale, that is exactly what I am talking about. Using a lighter was going to be my plan of action, just a bit weary about it since it's my only bag, etc. I contacted Titleist Customer Service about it, they told me to contact my course pro, but in most cases the wear will be consider normal wear-tear and is not a warranty item. Titleist Customer Service told me I can order a replacement, but that I would have to do so through my course pro. Also, I spoke to Customer Service about this twice, one told me that the Carbon straps would work on the Players bag and another told me it would not. Seems like the fixed pad on the Carbon would eliminate the wear issues I'm experiencing from the "cross clamp" self-adjust design. Went into a Golf Galaxy, they had both bags on the floor, and after playing with the straps it would seem the swap between straps should work. My course pro has yet to get back to me on cost or anything related.

That would be great if you can get the Carbon strap without buying the whole bag. You will have your original set for the Players 4+ in case you later sell it and can reuse the Carbon straps on your next bag. You also will have the original to use for a single strap arrangement if you play somewhere that uses caddies as they prefer a single strap, especially at places where they loop two bags.
