Peter: Project X shafts in what ever flex you need should run around $30.00 ,shaft labor close to $20, grips between $5-10 installed. This would mean you would have almost $1200-1300 in those irons, I would say keep playing them till you can get new ones and get fit for shafts and clubs on the 716's.. good luck

Nothing wrong with learning on blades. I learned on blades and went from a 20 to a 6 handicape with blades. A good teaching pro won't call you crazy. atlease not in the serious sense of the word. My old coach calls me crazy but thats couse we have a great relation ship. he wont help me with my driver becouse he said it hurts his back watching me swing. J/K But one thing my old pro did say is If you can hit blades play them. there is nothing wrong with it. all clubs are a player preferance. there is a Tour pro that we all know playing G10's thats a super game improvement iron. but he's a top 10-top 25 world ranking player. Shafts stick with the S300's for alittle while work on your swing mechanics get the fundimentals down and when the 716's do come out you'll be ready for a serious fitting. dont worrie about brand of shaft. Project X's, KBS's and DG's are all player prefrence. and a correction to an earlier post some one made RORY went to the 7.0's when he changed to the 712 line. titleist has a whole spred on it in the blog section. But the point of the shaft thing is hit was feels best and gives you the best results. Notice i said feels best. dont get cought up on numbers and stats. i can Bomb an 86 gram X-stiff shaft on average 5 yards farther than the 74gram i have now. but i have better feel with the 74gram and i feel i have more control. i have more confidance in the 74, so in a squeze i'll take the 5 yard lose for a better chance of putting the ball where i want it. But thats couse i had a good fitter that was Titleist certified and titleist certifiers while they may carry a launch monitor had to take there test with out one. thats my opinon and good luck to all of you greens and fairways to all simba

Hey no problem Peter, to be honest i think its great your starting off with blades. I did the same thing a long time ago.

If theres one piece of adivce i would give is to maybe stick with the S300 shafts for awhile and really hone in the correct swing that way you get strong muscle memory. Some people when the shaft is too stiff they tend to come over the top of the shot! you dont want that mess!

If you like the ProjectX take a look also at ProjectX shafts that are Flighted. Youll def get the ball flight a little lower.

Reshafting clubs can get very expensive. You need to include grips as well. Lot of people are ordering custom clubs b/c we are getting fitted. To be honest, the best way is to go onto ebay and find a used set of Project X shafts w/ grips for a decent price and go about it that way. Keep your S300 shafts just in case the Project X do not work out.

I can tell you this much. When I custom ordered my irons about 4 years ago, I spent an extra $12 per club to get the Project X. I am assuming that it is probably the same or up the $20 per club to get the Project X now.

I can give you a lot better answer in a week or so. I custom ordered a 712 CB 2-iron the other day with the Project X shaft in it. When that club come in and I go to get it, I will be able to tell you exactly how much it costs.

Joey, Thank you for your kind words And I totally agree with you on learning quicker with blades Because i can now hit a decent shots with my friends' blades. And getting ball up in the air with game improvement irons(TM burner and rbz) (which i should be playing with) is ridiculously easy to launch but can't compare to the feel of blades. And quite frankly, it still rocks my world and i hit it thin with MBs. My whole body dings for 3 seconds in an absolute agony when i top it. Anyways, ive looked around and found out the shaft itself costs around $40 so assuming labor per shaft is $20 that totals up to $480 to reshaft them. Noooo... I'll have to stick with my current one and maybe get a good job in future and buy 716 mbs with project x shafts... But i wonder how much is it cost to custom order 712 mb's with project x shafts in first place? I noticed many folks are custom ordering clubs here.

i will also not call you an idiot, lol.

But i will say this, when you got fit for your MBs, did you take a look at you swing speed and did the fitter reccomend that you try Projext X 6.5 shafts? or are you looking at 6.5 because thats what you see some pros play? let me just say Rory McIroy uses 6.5 Projext X shafts, and I would find it hard to beleive that you have the same swing speed as Rory, but i could be wrong.

Best thing to do, because they are great shafts is go in again and get fitted for shafts and see what stiffness they reccomend for your game. You will see once you get matched with the correct shaft it will boost your game.

The first set of club that I ever had and tried to learn with was a set of Titleist Model 100's. Blades that would rock your world when you hit them bad. Dang they hurt. You learn a lot quicker this way. I am probably one of the only ones that feels this way. I loved them though. It is not a normal thing to start off with blades, and if you ever go and get lessons they will call you crazy. I tend to disagree because I am a fan of blades. I have only even hit them and I will continue that.

It will cost you a lot to reshaft them. Not only the shaft price, but also the person that changes them out is going to cost you.

That being said, there is no comparison in feel. I hit the Project X and I will never go back to any other shaft. I really want to get one to put in my 4-wood, but it is so old that buying a newer model will be a much better option at this point.

This is just one person's opinion though. You probably should hit the Project X in the store and see how you like them versus the s300's. Some people just do not like the feel of the Project X.
