14 handicap who loses too many on the "tight course layouts" here in Japan to justify the cost of Pro V1s, so I found the Tour Soft to be for my budget and mid-range swing speed.

I'm currently playing Velocity since I was looking for a low spin ball that wouldn't penalize me as much since I tend to hook, but was wondering since Tour Soft says it is low spin off driver, and mid spin off irons, whether or not that would help me around the greens.
How is it possible to create a ball that is both a low spin and mid spin?
Thanks.

RE: Anyone playing Tour Soft?

I recently tried a dozen of the Tour Soft, the new ones. I have only hit the Prov 1 for years, I tend to use a sleeve a round and tend to not use the same sleeve of balls more than one round. I just like to start a new round with a new sleeve. Anyways. My swing speed has decreased over the years (90-95 mph) I'm 54 now and my have recently started playing much more golf. My grown kids are all playing and my wife and most of her kids as well.... My 2 cents after 2 rounds playing side by side.

I cant really tell a difference Driver, Irons.... They will hold a green like the ProV1 with Hybrid - wedge... Chipping they don't hold as well but they are not bad! I am actually going to try the ProV1x or left dash as well. I'm a 6-7 handicap now down from 12 a few months ago.

RE: Anyone playing Tour Soft?

Huh? I play the Pro-V1x because the launch and ball speed give me the most distance. My driver club head speed rarely hits over 85 mph. So my experience is that a compression of 60- 80 is not too high for me. I have tried a variety of balls to make sure the X is still my best scoring option.
I had the option to try a DTC “tour ball” that has a compression of 103. That is one ball that clearly needed a higher swing speed to launch. Like the left dash X, the response just didn’t work for me. …Like a rock…
Another option for you to try is Velocity. Japan also had separate line of (?) VG. I don’t know if that is reasonably priced.

RE: Anyone playing Tour Soft?

Yes, the previous models of Tour Soft and Tour Speed have been combined into one ball, the new Tour Soft. As for it being significantly firmer, I would be surprised that it would be that much as compression numbers on solid core balls are not as relevant as the old wound ball days. You will remember that the Titleist Tour Balatas came in 90 or 100 compression so I can't believe any current balls are 60 compression. That sounds like a marshmallow. :) That said, if you loved the older version, grab all you can find as they will disappear soon. Maybe give the TruFeel a try.
