  1. As a retired US Army veteran I prefer buying American made products whenever possible. I must admit I was taken aback to note that my Pro VI balls were all made in Thailand. Any reason Plants 2&3 can't support the US market? Perhaps Titleist could easily mark the boxes with an American flag when they are made here in the Good 'Ol US of A. I suspect a large number of Pro VI users think they are playing an "American" made golf ball.

Your comments made me want to look at the balls I have in my cabinet. I have six dozen. One dozen was made at Plant 4, Thailand and the other five were made at Plant 3, USA. I would say that Plant 3 supports the US market. I believe that Titleist makes equipment in South East Asia to support that market and the tour over there, which is huge. I too am a Veteran (USAF 1965-1971, DAV) and unfortunately there are very few truly American made products left in the USA, but a bit more American assembled products. With the Titleist being the number one golf ball and being in such high demand, I am sure that balls from all three plants will appear on the shelves. My five US balls came thru orders from Titleist. With respect.

I just purchased a dozen Pro V1's in La Quinta, CA. I noticed they were made at Plant 4 in Thailand. In the future I'll only purchase Pro V's made in the US.
  4. Decided to start buying American Made products due to the Coronavirus outbreak, order a box of Titleist PRO V1's. received them yesterday and discovered they were made in Plant #4 in Thailand. Thought this was an American Made product due to your website, never mentions plant #4 in Thailand. Very disappointed.
  5. Is there a way to guarantee that when you order PRO V1's that you will only get those made in the USA!!!!!

If you live in the Northeast, you can buy them at the TT Store as you exit the Ball Plant 3 tour. Pretty likely if you are in the USA, any ProV1, ProV1x, or AVX you direct order from the Titleist website will also be from Ball Plant 3.

Went through all 15 dozen (Pro-V1/AVX - 2 versions of each) and all V/AVX are from #3. Only the 1 box of Tour Soft came from #2. While they may supplement inventory with some from #4 - at least they were all made in a Titleist plant. Many other brands come from the same contract manufacturer in South Korea.

rHaroer, first, thanks for your service. I have spent 40+ years in the defense industry providing key products to give our troops a strategic advantage against our adversaries. Over the years it has become a true global effort to provide the capabilities we need as parts and supply chains cross over many countries. In many regards we have become "integrators" as raw materials and commercial-common parts force global solutions. If Titleist needs to supply the world with golf balls, having some produced in other locations with common processes and quality standards helps the overall company. Global sales are key to the success of the Acushnet company and it's parent, Fortune Brands. I think you will find that those balls made outside the USA are distributed to those markets but some are going to fill large orders at the "big box" stores. They have international supply chains already established and make it easy for their supplies to get rerouted to any location. Sorry for such a long post. Just wanted to reiterate the point that many US companies rely heavily on outside parts and/or labor which benefits us all. Especially now when the global pandemic needs global recovery. Thanks!

Thanks Richard, you are right, Fortune sold Acushnet to Fila back in 2011. That said, the point was that Titleist may home in the USA but they have overseas connections and supply the world so the "buy American" post is not so valid here.

The next time I buy from Titleist do I have to request USA made or do I not have a choice?

Aren't the personalized golf balls made in the US? I just checked my stock. I have 4 dozen personalized and all have US as manufacturing origin.

So if where they come from keeps you up at night then maybe buying personalized only works for golf balls. But I choose to focus on the fact that Titleist provides a lot of jobs in the US, no matter where some of their manufacturing occurs. I know my T200s were built in the US, but the components likely came from other countries.

And even more importantly, I focus on the fact that Titleist makes great golf equipment.

Titleist owns and operates all its ball plants. None are contracted through a third party. The direct to consumer balls that “are just as good as a Pro-V” are all contracted through 2-3 manufacturers in Asia. In the USA some come from Plant #4 to cover market shortages from #3 and #2 But built to the same quality controls. The box will indicate the plant. Other dealers close by will likely have supply from the USA if your current dealer’s stock is from #4. Custom orders through My Titleist will come from Acushnet, MA.

Even when balls are finished in Plant 4, all of the cores are formulated in MA. They then ship the core material to the remote plant for final manufacturing.
  18. I just got some Prov1x balls for Christmas, and to my knowledge, these are the first Prov1 balls I have ever had that were not made in the USA. Is there any difference between these and those made in the USA?
  19. Dale V

Only difference is the location of production. They use the same materials, equipment, and processes to make all the ProV1 and ProV1x regardless of which plant they come from. Same strict quality assurance and controls. It's just easier to supply the large demands from the big box stores along with international demands by using multiple facilities.
  20. While this is great in theory, anyone that buys a metal wood will have a Chinese manufactured head and shaft. Only made in the US component I’ve gotten in years was a true temper iron shaft.

Sad but true. That said, so much specialized manufacturing has left the US, you'd have to tie a rock to a hickory stick to get a club made with components sourced in the USA. Titleist does all their quality control of components and assembly for the USA in Carlsbad, CA. Only the counterfeits come fully assembled from China.

I'm concerned about sourcing more products in the USA but not sure about companies that only sell a portion of their products in the USA. At least Titleist controls every step of every golf they sell.

I used it off the tee with driver and was good flew kinda weird thought it was me. But this is what it looked like after tee off with the driver no did not hit a tree or cart path. Was just a little surprised it did this.

Wow, I never noticed. Checked my supply. The balls that I got on the annual 4 doz. for the price of 3 are from Plant 3. The ones that I got off the shelf from Dick's Sporting Goods are from Plant 4.

I have no doubt, no matter what plant the quality will be consistent throughout, that is what makes a TItleist a TItleist.

I just played my first few rounds with the new Pro V1-X. It has just the slightest different feel from the previous generation ball. For me it seemed to fly slightly higher with a more parabolic penetrating flight producing just that little bit of extra distance. Around the green it seems to perform exactly like the previous generation ball. I have played Titleist ball since childhood an it amazes me how they can keep improving their ball. Keep up the good work!
  28. ll personalized or direct orders I have purchased from Titleist have come from Plant 3. I have bought some balls through other retailers that are from Plant 4. the balls are the exact same; however, I feel better using and prefer the made in USA balls. though the balls are the same, any time I have a choice in two identical products (or virtually identical) and one is made in USA and one is made overseas, I will buy the Made In USA one.

Every box of Pro V1 and Pro V1x balls I’ve seen since 2014 in three different cities have all been made in Thailand. I guess Titleist plans on off-shoring all their golf ball manufacturing.

Nope. If you are only checking big box stores in each city, yes, those are likely all coming from the overseas plant in large quantity. All the US golf course pro shops, smaller retail golf shops, and on-line orders for ProV1, ProV1x, and AVX are coming from Ball Plant #3 which just opened back up for tours in New Bedford, MA. As for the difference between those balls created in the USA and those outside, the difference is only where they come from. The Ball Plants are all under the same strict Titleist quality control, use the same materials and manufacturing processes.

Hey Dale, do you know what are the ways to identify where the balls were made? Is it jus ton the box or are there some markings on the balls. I know you can see various letters in the ball cover material on the ball. This is an interesting topic.
  32. Dale V

I don't think you can tell on the ball, only the box. The small marking on the ball is so it can be identified against the actual mold used. I do not know if those mold numbers are unique to each site or if each site carries the same series of molds. That's a good question to ask the guys on the tour during a Ball Plant #3 Tour.

To reinforce your point, I was at Academy sports today and made a point to look at the Titleist golf balls. The Pro V1's were from Ball Plant #4 in Thailand. The AVX's were from Ball Plant #3 in New Bedford.
