Looking at the new SM8s and based on feedback will probably go a step softer than my irons for the SW and LW, for increased feel around the green. It depends on the person though.

Do wedge fitting also get you fit for the right shaft or just loft and bounce?

I would say if you like the feel, and can get the shafts give it a go. Nothing makes a golf bag happier than to have irons with all the same shafts and grip colors. I was fitted for 718 AP1's with KBS Tour shafts and did not get the 48 degree, opting instead to stick with my Vokey SM6 wedge. I was happy with that, until a buddy of mine let me hit his 48 with the same shaft a few times. Much more consistent and felt like my P wedge with a really cool flight, (technical speak for "I like it"). Last week I checked and was lucky enough to be able to still order the 718 AP1 in 48 with my grip, shaft and lie specs. I haven't let my golf bag know yet - figure I'd surprise it.

When we went to the Vokey fitting last year at Pinehurst, I learned from BV hiself, that the pro's shafts wedges are lighter. If they are hitting stiff shafts in their irons then they are playing regular shafts in their wedges. I guess Mr Vokey knows his stuff when it comes to wedges. Go with same lies and lengths. I have mine set up 2* flat and 1/2 inch over.

For me, as long as the shaft is relatively stiff, it doesn't matter if they match the irons or not. I max out my Vokey SM7 54.10s at 100 yards. If I did a blind test with my wedge (stock shaft, couldn't tell you what it is) and the same wedge with my iron shaft (png ZZ-65 stiff) I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference.

I have Wedgeflex on wedges. Irons are 695MB and I have S300 shafts. Wedges are standard length with lie angles according to shaft length (46 is 64.25, 50 is 64.5, 54 is 64.75, 58 and 64 are 65). I play the 6-8 1/2" short and 1/2* upright. Driver is 44" with 50g Bassara S and 17g headweight. 3W is 42" with Diamana 70 S and 14g headweight. 5W is 41" with same shaft and headweight; both set to A2. Hybrids are -3/4" and S70+ stiff set to A2.

I am looking at doing the same thing. My ap2’s have the LZ 5.0 hard stepped once and thinking of going LZ 5.5 soft stepped once to get a softer feeling, but a little heavier in the sand and lob wedge.

My sm6’s are worn out, now trying to decide if I want to go to an M grind in my lob, been playing a 58L, but discontinued. Tried my fitters 60M bent to a 58 and made the bounce to 6 degrees. It actually felt really good. I have thought of doing that with 56D bent to a 54 with it at 10 degree bounce which would be the same as my 54S, the D would be more versatile to open up than the S due to the grind.

I play modus 105 Stiff in a combo set of AP3 and AP2. I did play the matching iron shafts in the wedges but found then allitle light. So I ordered and fit myself modus Wedge 115 and that extra weight is great.

I got fitted into Project X LZ 5.5 for my T100’s. I went with same shafts in my new Vokey’s however for the 54 and 58 I chose 6.0 flex shafts. I prefer the heavier weight in these clubs as I don’t often take full swings with these.

I was also fit into C-Taper-Lite in 2017 (AP2s), and I did my Vokeys in them as well and kept that set until the end of last year. It worked out really well for me, especially on the gap wedge where I was mostly hitting full shots. I sometimes thought that the club felt too light, though on the 56 and 60 around the greens.

I went to TPI Oceanside for a fitting last November, and we decided to stay in the C-Taper-Lite for the T100's, and also go with C-Taper-Lite for the Vokey 48 and 50 (this time around, we are going with a Vokey 48 instead of a T100 PW), and then go with the regular C-Taper (which is 10g heavier) in the 54 and 60. I really like the difference in feel of the slightly heaver shaft on the finesse shots, but it still gives a consistency and similar flight on the fuller swings.

I don't think there is a hard and fast rule on this one. However, based on my fittings through Titleist, we've always matched the wedge shafts to the iron shafts. I have been very happy with the results.

I have heard the same or very similar.

basically was told to look at the clubs I will be making a Full swing most of the time with and match these to the irons, then the clubs used to play a variety of shots of varying swing lengths go a little softer on. the reasons were the same as the above.

Yes and no, if it makes you feel better to keep them uniform then go ahead. The std wedge shaft on Vokey's are a dynamic gold s200, the wedge shafts may be slightly heavier which could be a good thing. Many tour pro's have different shafts on their wedges, for example very common to see Tour Issue Dynamic Gold X100 on their irons then Tour Issue Dynamic Gold S400 on their wedges- the S400's are slightly heavier and with a little softer flex it gives them more feel for the less than full swing touch shots. If you are satisfied with them i say no need to change.
