I’ve been a CB user since the first 690CB to 712CB and 718CB. Had DG R300, DG SL and KBS Tour 90 respectively steel shafts with those irons. Now I am using T100 AMT White R300. Been losing distance

RE: Switching from steel to graphite

Currently playing T 200's with the Tensi Red. It does give your body less of a beating in the elbows and shoulders. I do notice however that for me I still have a hard time with not getting the feel in my hands from a solid shot with a steel shaft. When hitting balls for demo, I love that Nipon shaft, but was afraid of the extra weight over the course of an entire round.

RE: Switching from steel to graphite

I have been thinking of switching to graphite myself, I was looking at the T100 also. I would love to try the new KBS TGI shaft, the taper tip comes in 90g - 110g options, play like the original KBS Tour shaft with smoother feel, however Titleist doesn't have them listed as a custom option???

RE: Switching from steel to graphite

I had a 718 AP2's with Aerotech steel fiber shafts. Recently, changed my irons to T100's and again ordered them with the Aerotech shafts. I have rotator cuff issues in both shoulders, and from personal experience, the Aerotech's dampen the impact considerably. I used to walk off the course in extreme discomfort, but once I changed shafts from steel to graphite, it has made the world of difference. Not a cheap upgrade, but for me was well worth it. Again, just my personal opinion.

RE: Switching from steel to graphite

I bought a new set of AP1 irons earlier this year after a Titleist Thursday fitting, Im approaching 59yrs and the fitter broke the news it was time for a Senior "A" flex shaft, best thing Ive done for a long time, Trackman was recording I was hitting a further 9yds on average, infact I have now fitted this shaft throughout my bag.

I strongly finding a PGA professional or Titleist fitting day somewhere where they can put you on trackman and go over the numbers with you. You will find that this is the best way to make sure you are getting what you want and see the difference between many shafts before making a decision.

RE: Switching from steel to graphite

Sounds like graphite is in your future, although i wouldnt expect much in terms of gaining distance, but it will be easier on the body. Graphite absorbs the impact so good and bad shots tend to feel about the same, steel doesnt absorb and gives a better feel sensation. Lots of champions tour players use graphite in their irons, you can find graphite that is heavier than some steel optiins. I suggest trying the T200's with either the tensei red or the recoil shafts and see how they compare - the T200's will be about a full club longer than the T100's.
