Hi Gilbert, You would order a new shaft with the correct tipping and 1/2" short. Or if you have already had it tipped, you could have a club maker add an extension. We don't add any extensions here.

That's what I originally wanted to do but was told the timeframe was unknown due to the fact that this was shortly after Golfsmith declared bankruptcy and was acquired. If I were to send this driver in would I have to get an entirely new shaft in order to get the playing length of 44.5"? Or could a 0.5" extension be added to my current shaft?

Hi Gilbert, You can order your driver at 44.5" with a 1" tip through Golf Galaxy or any pro shop or retailer.
If you have already purchased a standard driver and want it tipped 1" total, if the shaft was not previously tipped, that would bring your driver down to 44".
If you pro shop sets this up with us, it typically takes about 3-4 days in house and then shipping time.

As much as I wanted to purchase my driver already customized I was unable to due to Golfsmith's transition to Golf Galaxy. I typically play my driver at 44.5" and tipped 1". How long is the typical turn around time for something like this if I were to send it in through authorized dealer?

Agree with the balance of the responses here recommending you take your club to an authorized Titleist dealer and fitter. Then have Titleist do it. You not be disappointed.

Hi Eric, Ryan is right. For every 1/2" you cut off the driver length, you will reduce the swingweight by 2-3 swingweights. If you have the Red 9 gram weight, you will want to purchase a Black 14 gram weight or your other option is - if you have a standard 50-52 gram grip, you can keep the 9 gram red weight and regrip with a grip that weighs about 8-12 grams less so a 40 gram grip. Either way will keep swingweight, but if you go the grip option, you will reduce the overall weight of the club.

To make sure this is done properly you should take it to your pro shop and have them send it into Titleist as they will cut and counter weight your driver to the proper specs.

You would actually want to "add" weight to the club head if you are shortening the shaft. Cutting the shaft .5 inches is going to reduce the swing weight by about 2-3 points. If you have the red 9g weight in your driver now you would want to put in the blue 11g or maybe even the black 14g weight. Or you can reduce the grip weight by 4-5 grams.

1/2in is roughly drop of 3SW. Might be able to counter most of it with changing head screw to black (14g) instead of red (9g). That would at least minimize the amnt of lead tape needed.

Or...could just take to authorized retailer and they can send it in to Titleist to be done.

Short answer is no! But you can counter weight the grip or lighten the head weight to regain D4
